"Oh, no, that's not it. It's just that I've been to this resort island before. I remember there used to be a lot of kids selling coconuts along the shore. Why is it so deserted today? And the shoreline I remember isn't even here anymore."
Not only were there no speedboats by the island, but there wasn't a single child in sight. This was definitely not normal.
This resort island was extremely famous in the area. Whether it was a holiday or a regular day, there were always at least a few people around. It shouldn't be so deserted that you couldn't see a single soul.
Joy Fischer and Luna Nash exchanged a glance, then stepped out of the speedboat.
"Let's go check it out first. If something feels wrong, we'll leave."
After Luna Nash and Joy Fischer led the way off the boat, they had only taken a few steps when they spotted an extinguished fire pit.
Julian Grant came forward and stared thoughtfully at the pile of ash.
"Looks like someone's been living here."
