Jane Sterling nodded knowingly. She took the three items from her backpack and handed them to the police captain.
The police captain looked at the items Jane Sterling handed him. He first examined the paper, which was folded into a neat square, his expression growing more and more serious as he studied it.
Then, he glanced at the recording pen and the USB drive.
Years of experience kept the police captain perfectly calm.
He knew this case was far from simple.
"Looks like I was on the right track," the police captain muttered.
Jane Sterling was puzzled. "What?"
The police captain shook his head, his expression solemn.
"It's nothing. Thank you for handing these items over to us."
With that, he passed the items to a junior officer at his side.
The junior officer took the items and quickly ran off.
The police captain led the three of them aside and sighed.
