Her curled lashes fluttered twice as she looked at the person on the video call.
Miles Sherman looked like he had just gotten out of the shower. He was wearing a loose-fitting T-shirt from The Military, and his hair seemed to have faint droplets of water in it, though it was hard to tell.
Even though she was no stranger to intimacy, Zoe Pierce still found herself unconsciously growing tense.
She nodded softly. "Mm..."
Miles's expression was gentle. His private room wasn't large, but it guaranteed his privacy.
He leaned against the headboard, looking at Zoe. "Have you been busy? I haven't heard from you lately."
Forget calling—Zoe had been so busy she hadn't even sent a single message. Even when he texted, her reply was always that she was busy with her lesson plans.
The Military's training schedule didn't line up with Zoe's, and for the better part of a month, they had kept missing each other.
Tonight, Miles had only started the video call on a whim, just to try his luck.
