Guo Chengfeng watched with amusement as the woman sat by the table, chin propped in one hand. Without arguing, he suddenly said in a low voice, "Ah Qing, I'm leaving."
Shen Qing stiffened, instinctively sitting up straight.
In truth, Guo Chengfeng was meant to leave long ago. He had only stayed longer because Shen Qing had asked for his help in investigating the opium trade.
This had lulled her into the false impression that he wouldn't be leaving anytime soon.
She fell silent for a moment before smiling. "So, are you here to bid me farewell today, Mr. Guo?"
"More or less," Guo Chengfeng said, sitting down across from her. His gentle eyes held a trace of reluctance and sorrow that most people would miss. He gave a faint smile. "This trip back to the Capital City has been quite fruitful. Just knowing you've returned safely has put my mind at ease."
