This afternoon, Yuan Si rode her bike home from work to find the house completely empty. The courtyard gate was locked from the outside, which meant her mother had gone out.

Yuan Si mulled it over. 'That must be it. Otherwise, Mom would never be out at this hour.'
"Oh, I see. I'll go pick her up later. By the way, ma'am, do you know if my mom went to the hospital or my brother's house?" Yuan Si asked.
