Everyone chimed in. Only a few hesitated for a moment before nodding along when they saw everyone else agreeing. The woman from before was unhappy. "I'm willing, too, but why can't I bring my bags?"
"I've already said, it's very dangerous here. I can't even guarantee everyone's safety as it is, let alone if you're carrying all that stuff. If you insist on bringing your luggage, you'll have to wait until the very end. You can go after everyone else who wants to leave has crossed. And I have to tell you, the risk to you will be several times greater than for anyone else. With all that extra weight, if something really happens, I might not be able to hold onto you."
"But I'm a woman. Didn't you say women get priority?" the woman demanded, her eyes wide with indignation.
"Yes, children, the elderly, and women have priority. But your luggage doesn't get to be compared to a human life."
