Bai Qi stared for a few moments, then suddenly broke into a smile.
The chubby man seemed to sense the sinister glint in that smile. He froze in the middle of eating, then very slowly turned his head.
The glass window was awash in the myriad colors of the neon lights. Through the mottled reflections, the chubby guy saw Bai Qi's face—gaunt, haggard, and pale, but still undeniably handsome. In that instant, he was so shocked that the burrito in his hand fell to the ground with a SPLAT. His hands and mouth, however, remained bizarrely frozen open.
Bai Qi's smile deepened as he waved. "Long time no see."
"Who is it?" Mr. Hei asked, walking over only after hearing Bai Qi speak.
"Oh, no one special. Just… the rice for your master cook." It was the first time Bai Qi had flashed such a brilliant, sunny smile since his severe injury.
