Lucy Summers was silent for a long time before finally making a solemn decision.
Her gaze swept over Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller, finally landing on Sheryl Sawyer as she said softly, "I want to cut ties with them."
When Sheryl Sawyer heard this, her heart skipped a beat, then began to pound like a drum. "Lulu, is this for real?"
Lucy Summers nodded firmly. "Yes, I've thought it through. Whatever their reasons were for adopting me back then, the fact is they don't love me now."
Since no one in this home welcomed her, she might as well leave.
"Lulu, if you're sure about cutting ties, then I think I should contact the local police department," Sheryl Sawyer explained gently. "They must have used illegal means to adopt you. We need to get to the bottom of this."
Lucy Summers hesitated for a moment, her lips barely moving. "Okay."
Hearing her answer, the group left the Summers family home, hailed a cab, and went to the police station.
