Rory Yves's face twisted in anger at Clarence Sawyer's words.
She clenched her fists, her voice laced with a threat. "You want to go crying to my parents? Teacher, are you that naive? They're *my* parents. Do you really think they'll believe you?"
Clarence Sawyer clenched his own fists, his face grim. He spoke each word with deliberation. "Rory Yves, I'm asking you one last time. Are you going to study or not?"
"And what if I do? What if I don't?" Rory Yves said dismissively, her eyes full of contempt.
"Fine," Clarence Sawyer said flatly. "Then I'll speak directly with Mr. and Mrs. Yves."
"Teacher!" Rory Yves cried out, stopping him. Her voice was tinged with tears. "I know I was wrong. Can you please give me one more chance?"
Clarence Sawyer paused and looked back at her. "Are you sure you're going to take this seriously?"
"I'm sure," Rory Yves nodded, looking wronged. "Teacher, please give me one more chance, okay?"
Clarence Sawyer frowned, seeming to hesitate.
