The color drained from Miles's face after he heard what Renee Jennings said. He fell completely silent.
His lips pressed into a thin, tight line, his dazed gaze seemingly frozen on the phone screen.
Images of the time he had spent with his wife—what he had thought were happy times—flashed through his mind.
Miles's fingers slowly curled into a fist. After a long moment, he forced out the words, "Host, is what you're saying… is it all true?"
Renee Jennings's gaze was serious. "I can't tell you if it's true or false. I can only tell you that I'm relaying what Milo told me."
Miles took off his glasses and covered his eyes with his hand, his shoulders trembling slightly.
