Perhaps not wanting to hear Renee Jennings's answer, Phoenix the alligator's four short claws paddled furiously as it scurried toward a nearby pool.
Renee Jennings met several curious gazes, pursed her lips, and said slowly, "Phoenix told me the other alligators had been planning to escape for a while now."
"But why?" Director Quincy frowned in confusion. "They eat well, drink well, and sleep well at the zoo. Why would they want to escape?"
Renee Jennings explained, "It's because of Phoenix. Phoenix says she's the most beautiful Princess Gator and demanded that all the male alligators in the Alligator Pavilion be her boyfriends. The male alligators didn't agree with her claim, nor did they agree to be her boyfriends, which led to this mass escape."
Faye Wyatt looked utterly shocked and muttered, "My grasp on language and reality is being tested right now."
"Definitely," Sawyer agreed with a nod. "That's a sentence you don't hear every day."
