"Danna," Yvette Brooks called to her from across Chance.
Shannon Lynn turned her head stiffly to look at her.
Yvette Brooks thought she looked odd. Frowning, she got up and walked over. "Danna, are you not feeling well?"
"No." Shannon Lynn shook her head, forcing a weak smile. "I-I'm fine."
"Alright." Yvette Brooks didn't press the issue and leaned in to whisper in her ear, "I think it's a bit stuffy in here. I'm going to head home first."
Shannon Lynn's mind was in turmoil. She slowly reached out her hand.
She grabbed her best friend's wrist and pleaded, "Vivi, it's still early. Let's hang out a little longer. Vince and I can take you home later."
Yvette Brooks's face fell. "But I want to go home now."
"Are you saying I'm not your friend?" Shannon Lynn feigned anger.
"Of course not," Yvette Brooks explained. "Danna, you're my best friend."
