Renee Jennings slept until eleven o'clock before Rhea Dempsey woke her up.
"They're your fur babies, you play with them yourself." Rhea Dempsey stood by the bed, alternately rubbing her two sore hands.
Renee rolled over, sat up in bed, and retorted with a yawn, "They call you Mom. You can't be so irresponsible."
"I've been waiting on them all morning. How is that irresponsible?" Rhea felt wronged.
Renee got up, washed her face, had brunch, and then moved a small stool to the balcony, calling her fur babies over for a meeting.
The two cats and two dogs sat obediently in front of her.
Renee stared at them and asked seriously, "What did you all do this morning?"
Bella was the first to raise a small paw.
Renee looked at her and gestured with her chin. "Bella, you go first."
Bella said proudly, "Renee, we played with Mom for a long time this morning, and she was so happy!"
"You played with *her*?" Renee raised an eyebrow slightly.
