Seeing this, Sharon Dawson gloated, "Oh, is Luca going to bite her?"
The next instant, Luca kicked off powerfully with his hind legs and leaped menacingly toward Renee Jennings.
"Luca, no biting!" Zephyr Lockwood's heart leaped into his throat.
"AAAHH, you understand me!" Luca rushed up to Renee Jennings, wagging his tail, his eyes sparkling. "You can understand what I'm saying, right?"
"Of course," Renee Jennings said with a smile, looking down at him. "Tell me what's wrong."
Luca didn't bite Renee Jennings, so Zephyr Lockwood breathed a sigh of relief. Sharon Dawson and Old Hag Crawford, however, looked disappointed.
Luca said excitedly, "Doctor, I want to see Luna! Luna hasn't come to see me in so long. Did she get sick and disappear? I'm really, really worried about her!"
As he spoke, the strong, sturdy Alaskan Malamute even started to cry with a whimper.
Renee Jennings rubbed the dog's head to comfort him before turning to Zephyr Lockwood. "Mr. Lockwood, who is Luna?"
