Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Magical Trade (Part 2)

"Well, my Outsider friend? I was right, wasn't I!"

The stall owner laughed heartily when he saw Fang Cheng return.

Fang Cheng saw that the hourglass next to him was already half empty, so he cut to the chase. "I have five wine recipes here. Will you take them all?"

The stall owner's eyebrow shot up. "The more, the merrier, of course!"

Fang Cheng took out the five wine recipes Feng Ling had given him and handed them to the stall owner.

The stall owner casually grabbed at the air. A light flashed in the void, and ten strings of round, square-holed coins fell into his hand.

Each string held exactly one hundred Spiritual Coins!

Fang Cheng took the Spiritual Coins and was instantly stunned.

These Spiritual Coins were actually polished from Dao Pattern Spirit Jade!

There was no Spiritual Qi fluctuation from the coins, but each one had natural Dao Patterns, brimming with Dao rhythm!

He rubbed the Spiritual Coins. In his sea of consciousness, the Golden Talisman slowly trembled, and in an instant, he had gained 1,000 Creation Points.

'Score!'

Fang Cheng was overjoyed.

He picked out five strings of Spiritual Coins and said with a slight smile, "Stall owner, some of these Spiritual Coins are a bit damaged. Could I exchange them?"

"What does that matter?" the stall owner asked with a displeased frown.

Fang Cheng braced himself and said, "I have a strange quirk. I like things to be neat and tidy."

The stall owner impatiently swapped out five strings of Spiritual Coins for him. "Is this good enough for you now?!"

Fang Cheng nodded. "It is!"

He took the Spiritual Coins, and another 500 Creation Points were registered!

'But I can't keep this trick up. If I anger the stall owner, it'll be a disaster.'

Fang Cheng looked around the market, once again feeling like he had stumbled into a massive Treasure Vault!

'What a pity...'

With this in mind, an idea struck him. He took the paperweight made of Dao Pattern Spirit Jade from his storage bag and asked, "Stall owner, will you buy this?"

The stall owner glanced at it casually and said, "You have Spirit Jade where you're from, too? Two hundred Spiritual Coins. I'll take it."

The paperweight was slightly larger than two strings of Spiritual Coins, but the price the stall owner offered was quite fair.

"Alright, deal!"

Fang Cheng nodded.

The stall owner waved his hand and grabbed at the air. A five-colored ball of light spun and flashed, and several strings of Spiritual Coins fell out. He sorted through them, picked out two strings, and handed them to Fang Cheng. "These are the two most complete strings I have. Take them or leave them. If you don't want them, I can pay you with a Spirit Fruit instead."

Fang Cheng blinked and asked, "Can I pick them out myself?"

The stall owner shook his head and quickly put the other Spiritual Coins away.

Fang Cheng sighed inwardly, absorbed the Creation Points from the Spiritual Coins, and bid the stall owner farewell before leaving.

He had only taken a few steps when the stall owner called out to him again, "Outsider! You people always come and go in such a hurry. It's a shame—this market will be gone in a few years. Take this Spirit Fruit as a memento!"

With that, he tossed a Spirit Fruit over.

Fang Cheng raised his hand and caught it, looking at the stall owner in astonishment.

He saw a nostalgic look in the stall owner's eyes, tinged with a hint of sadness.

Fang Cheng put away the Spirit Fruit, clasped his hands in thanks, and turned to leave.

'He definitely wasn't thinking of me just now!'

'It must have been someone else like me, someone who had come to this market before and crossed paths with the stall owner...'

'And I got something for free because of it!'

Fang Cheng shook his head and sighed.

He had sold five wine recipes and one Dao Pattern Spirit Jade paperweight for one thousand two hundred Spiritual Coins, plus one thousand seven hundred Creation Points.

'An absolute killing!'

Looking at the hourglass, he saw only a third of the sand remained. 'Time is running out,' Fang Cheng thought. 'I need to find a way to spend these one thousand two hundred Spiritual Coins.'

'Otherwise, the next time I come here might be ten years from now.'

'And from the stall owner's tone, this place might not even exist in ten years...'

He wandered for a while and finally found a stall that fit his "purchasing power."

The stall owner was a Soul Race youth, over two meters tall and thin. He was wearing leather clothes and dozing listlessly on the ground.

The items displayed in front of the youth were rather shabby.

There was a coiled Poisonous Python whose aura wasn't as intense as the Fierce Beasts at other stalls; it seemed to be a Tier Two Fierce Beast.

A Fierce Beast Leg Bone as thick as a bucket.

There was also a rolled-up Beast Hide Scripture and two bundles of Spirit Grass.

When Fang Cheng saw the Fierce Beast Leg Bone, the Golden Talisman in his sea of consciousness trembled slightly, and he knew he was in luck.

He had seen a similar fierce beast skeleton back at Feng Ling's place. It had faint Spirit Patterns on it, indicating it was from a Fierce Beast that had awakened its Talent Divine Techniques.

He squatted down and, pretending to examine it, touched the Fierce Beast Leg Bone.

In an instant, the Golden Talisman trembled, and another 700 Creation Points were added!

'My luck is incredible today!'

Fang Cheng was in an excellent mood, an irrepressible smile spreading across his face.

The Soul Race youth had just opened his eyes when he saw an Outsider of peculiar build and appearance fondling the fierce beast skeleton he was trying to sell, a strange smile on his face.

He jumped in surprise and exclaimed, "Outsider, what are you touching?!"

Fang Cheng casually withdrew his hand and pointed at the Fierce Beast Leg Bone. "How much for this bone?"

The Soul Race youth held up one finger. "One thousand Spiritual Coins."

"Too expensive. Cheaper," Fang Cheng haggled.

The Soul Race youth pressed his lips together and shook his head, refusing to bargain.

Seeing this, Fang Cheng pointed to the Poisonous Python's carcass and asked, "What about this?"

The Soul Race youth said, "Five hundred Spiritual Coins."

'Not expensive...'

Fang Cheng thought to himself, then pointed to the rolled-up Beast Hide Scripture and asked, "And this?"

The Soul Race youth said, "One thousand Spiritual Coins."

Fang Cheng was speechless. 'So the pricing is completely arbitrary.'

Fang Cheng looked at the Beast Hide Scripture and asked, "What's in it?"

The Soul Race youth said proudly, "This is my tribe's Body Refining Technique, the Celestial Fire Body Forging Technique. Once you cultivate it to great mastery, you can manifest the Great Sun Golden Crow Dharma Body!"

"You're exaggerating..." Fang Cheng said, looking at the Soul Race youth doubtfully.

The youth gave an embarrassed smile. "My tribe suffered a calamity, so only the first three volumes of this Cultivation Technique are left... Still, it's more than worth the price!"

Fang Cheng pointed at the Poisonous Python and the Beast Hide Scripture, haggling, "These two together—one thousand Spiritual Coins. Yes or no?"

The Soul Race youth thought for a moment and said, "At least one thousand four hundred Spiritual Coins."

Fang Cheng said, "I've been wandering around for a while now, and you haven't sold a thing. You're lucky to have a customer like me. How about this: I'll add another hundred Spiritual Coins!"

The Soul Race youth pursed his lips, about to refuse, but then he thought of his current predicament, sighed to himself, and said, "One thousand three hundred Spiritual Coins. I can't go any lower, or I won't sell."

Fang Cheng looked at him and said, "One thousand two hundred Spiritual Coins. That's all I have on me. Go a little cheaper."

The Soul Race youth shook his head, unwilling to discuss it further.

'This kid doesn't know how to do business...'

Fang Cheng's eyes darted around. He took out a jade slip and said, "How about this? One thousand two hundred Spiritual Coins, plus this Secret Technique?"

The Soul Race youth took the jade slip and looked at it, a curious expression on his face.

This jade slip recorded a Fire Escape Technique, obtained from an old Tribulation Cultivator. In the eyes of a Sensing Stage Cultivator, it was barely passable.

Fang Cheng had used a Secret Technique to obscure most of the jade slip, leaving only the beginning for the Soul Race youth to see.

The youth studied it for a moment and thought to himself, 'So this is the kind of Spell Outsiders cultivate? It really is novel. If I could modify it a bit, I could probably increase my flying speed by thirty to fifty percent!'
