The next day, Feng Yi went to Yixin Palace to visit the Empress Dowager, while Yun Zhao took her two sons boating on the lake.
Feng Yun hadn't seen his brother in a long time and showed a rare, clingy side. Feng Ze held his younger brother, unwilling to let go, so Yun Zhao let him take a day off from his studies to spend the day playing with his brother.
Feng Ze was overjoyed and had told Yun Zhao first thing in the morning that he wanted to go boating on the lake.
Feng Yun had had his fill of playing on the lake, but Feng Ze hadn't had much of a chance. Yun Zhao, being a fair mother, readily agreed. The three of them headed straight for Long Lake.
Meanwhile, Feng Yi arrived at Yixin Palace.
Nanny Yao came out to greet him, dipping into a curtsy. "Your servant greets Your Majesty."
"How is the Empress Dowager?"
"In response to Your Majesty, the Empress Dowager's complexion is much better today. She is already able to eat normally," Nanny Yao replied.
