The horse race concluded perfectly, and Zhao Ling'e certainly made a name for herself by winning. Unfortunately for her, the polo match that followed was even more exciting. Miss Chu, in particular, wielded her mallet with impressive power, overshadowing Zhao Ling'e to become the star of the show.
Yun Zhao quite liked her. She had a forthright personality but still looked a little shy when they met. Her face filled with pride whenever she mentioned her brother, and she possessed a kind of worldly but untainted innocence.
Yun Zhao even took the bracelet from her own wrist and gave it to her as a reward. This was the first time she had ever gifted one of her own personal accessories to someone.
After the horse race, the grounds were not closed. They remained open for everyone to ride and enjoy themselves.
Yun Zhao even assigned extra staff there to serve tea and refreshments.
'Burnishing one's reputation? She knew how to play that game, too.'
