Luke Lynch was sure he was drunk. "You need to stop. This stuff is strong. Your students have some nerve, getting you hammered on this."
"Here, drink some water."
Felix Sinclair reached out. Just as he was about to touch the water glass, his phone on the table suddenly vibrated with an incoming call.
As if jolted from a dream, he scrambled for his phone but couldn't get a firm grip on it.
The phone fell to the ground with a CLATTER.
The chatter in the room died down, but Felix Sinclair didn't seem to notice. Ignoring Luke Lynch's attempts to stop him, he bent over to pick up the phone.
Luke Lynch scrambled to steady him. "I'll get it. Be careful you don't hit your head."
By the time Luke picked it up, the screen was already dark.
Felix Sinclair froze.
"They hung up," Luke Lynch said.
Felix Sinclair remained silent, pressing his finger on the sensor several times. It wouldn't unlock—perhaps his hand was sticky from a spilled drink.
