After getting the call, Mrs. Rowan, the aunt Wren Rowan had mentioned, rushed to the door and opened it.
The moment she did, she saw a man in a black suit standing at the entrance, his hand raised to knock. His expression was incredibly grim, but she didn't move aside. Instead, she planted herself firmly in her doorway, refusing to let the group in front of her inside.
"Auntie!" Wren Rowan pushed past the men in black suits and hurried to Mrs. Rowan's side. She put an arm around her shoulders and whispered reassuringly, "Don't worry, I called the police. They're right behind me. They'll sort this out for us."
Mrs. Rowan followed Wren Rowan's gaze and saw Evan Keller and the others talking with the men in black suits. The tension gripping her eased considerably.
"Thank goodness they're here, thank goodness they're here." Mrs. Rowan leaned weakly against Wren Rowan's shoulder, her voice choked with emotion.
