"Rest assured, Ms. Yorke. I know what to do," the young man said, patting his chest in assurance.
'Just taking care of a few kids. Easy peasy!'
Ms. Yorke seemed to have great confidence in the young man's abilities. She gave him a knowing look before turning and leaving the room.
After she left, the young man rolled his shoulders, pulled a folding knife from his pocket, and started fiddling with it.
"What a shame. A few cute kids, too. To think they're going to die here just like that." The young man's face was a mask of regret, but his feet never stopped moving. He advanced step by step toward the children in the corner.
Although the children couldn't understand the young man's words, they could guess his intentions from the look on his face and the knife in his hand.
'This man wants to kill us!'
But their hands and feet were bound with iron chains. Struggling free was impossible.
