Evan Keller frowned, confused. "Shouldn't we be watching him like a hawk right now? How can we let him just wander around?"
Captain Lynch shook his head. "We can't. I don't know where those parents heard it, but they got it in their heads that we detained two teachers to deliberately cut into their kids' study time. They all stormed the station to protest."
We explained from the start that we were just following procedure and that the school would arrange for substitute teachers to make sure the students' studies wouldn't be affected.
But for some reason, the parents were fixated on those two teachers and wouldn't budge, no matter what we said.
Some even threatened to camp out at the station and refuse to leave unless the two were allowed to go back to teaching.
To avoid a bigger commotion, we had no choice but to agree. We let the teachers return to class, but we still have officers tailing them whenever they're out.
