Finally, the ending song began to play, and the lights in the theater came on brightly.
Faye Vaughn touched her flushed cheeks.
She stole a glance at Vincent Hawthorne, only to meet his gaze directly.
She cleared her throat and said, feigning nonchalance, "The ending of this movie was quite moving."
Vincent's lips curved into a smirk. "Are you sure you understood the ending?"
She had clearly been watching that couple the whole time, far more engrossed in them than in the movie.
Faye blinked, pretending not to understand the meaning behind his words, and changed the subject. "Should we get going? Didn't you say we were going to get drinks?"
She was the first to stand up, squeezing her way out through the crowd.
The theater was crowded as everyone was leaving. She tripped and was about to fall.
From behind, a man's arm steadied her.
"Thank you."
Faye turned her head and met Vincent Hawthorne's deep, dark eyes.
His voice was deeper than usual. "Be careful."
