Chapter 32: Breakthrough
Shaking his head, Mu Chen could feel the Extreme Spirit Pearl in his mind fall completely silent. He understood that the rest was up to him. Success or failure hinged on this single attempt.
Taking a deep breath, Mu Chen composed himself and stepped into the cave.
WHIMPER...
However, the moment he stepped into the cave, an incredibly strange sensation surfaced in his mind.
It was a mournful whimper. At first, it sounded like the howl of a wolf pup, but listening closely, it resembled the cry of an infant. Though Mu Chen couldn't understand what it was saying, he could clearly sense the plea within the sound.
"Who are you?"
Mu Chen asked, despite knowing it was a pointless question. After he spoke, the whimpering grew noticeably more anxious, the feeling it conveyed shifting from a plea to desperate begging. Furthermore, he felt a subtle pull, as if the voice was intentionally trying to draw him closer.
