Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Spirit Robe (Haori)

Two days later, the enrollment list was published.

Minato, as expected, successfully enrolled.

It is worth mentioning that the admission requirements for the Ninja Academy are actually not high.

First: A person who deeply loves the village and has a sense of belonging.

Second: A person with mental resilience.

Third: A person sound in mind and body.

Simply put, as long as you are a "good kid" of the Leaf Village, you basically meet the requirements.

However, meeting the requirements doesn't guarantee enrollment.

Because most applicants are ordinary people without ninja talent.

At the school gate, many children burst into tears on the spot, crying loudly or leaving in disappointment with their parents.

Of course, there were also people like Naoto Tsuchiya, who were incredibly frustrated, feeling they were just slightly worse than those on the list and planning to train for a year before trying again.

"That's awesome, Minato!"

Nawaki punched the air excitedly. "You got in!"

As soon as he said that, he saw Minato and Tsunade looking at him speechlessly.

Nawaki froze for a moment, then remembered Minato's double Bloodline Limit talent and laughed dryly.

"Well... it's not surprising, but it's still worth celebrating."

Tsunade smiled and ruffled Nawaki's hair. "Minato has been either training or cooking for the last two days. To celebrate, let's relax properly today!"

"Relax..."

Nawaki looked at Tsunade suspiciously. "You're not going to drag us shopping, are you? Or gambling..."

"What are you saying? How could I take children to a casino?"

Tsunade flicked Nawaki's forehead. "I plan to take you guys to buy some new clothes, have a big meal, and maybe hit the hot springs. Of course, if you don't want to..."

"I want to! I totally want to!"

Nawaki grinned and quickly stated his position. "I knew you were the best, Sis!"

"Heh, save it!"

Tsunade rolled her eyes at him, then turned to Minato. "What do you want to eat for lunch, Minato?"

"Hmm... Sukiyaki, maybe?"

Minato thought about it. He kind of wanted spicy hot pot, but the ninja world didn't have it, and he didn't know how to make the base from scratch. He could only settle for something similar.

"Okay! Sukiyaki it is! I happen to know a place that's really good!"

Tsunade waved her hand. "Now—to the shopping district!"

"OH—!!"

Nawaki punched the air, full of energy.

Seeing the two of them looking at him, Minato awkwardly raised his fist. "...Oh!"

The three arrived at a clothing store in the shopping district. The shop looked a bit old, and the owner was a lady in her fifties.

Tsunade pushed Minato forward and said to the owner, "Hello, please help me pick out some clothes for this child."

"Oh my, what a handsome little guy..."

The owner looked Minato over with a smile. "What colors do you like, young man?"

"Black and white..."

Minato answered politely. He wasn't great at fashion, but black and white couldn't go wrong.

"I thought only teenage boys liked that style. Isn't it a bit early for you? Kids should wear bright and lively colors."

The owner chuckled. Although she said that, she still picked out a pure white T-shirt for Minato. "How about this?"

"Too plain."

Before Minato could speak, Tsunade shook her head first.

Minato looked at Tsunade. "Um... actually, I think it's fine."

"So, what do kids know about picking clothes?"

Tsunade immediately put on the face of an "evil adult," lifting her chin and glancing at Minato. "Just do as I say!"

Are you kidding? With such a cute boy, how could she pass up the chance to play dress-up?

Even a tomboy like her had girl instincts!

"Then how about trying black?"

The owner picked out a black T-shirt.

"You can try that one."

Tsunade gestured for Minato to change. Minato smiled helplessly and walked into the fitting room.

It was just changing a T-shirt, so he came out quickly. The deep black made his yellow hair look even brighter, and his aura seemed more aggressive than before.

"Nice. Wrap this one up!"

Tsunade's eyes lit up. She waved her hand gently, acting like a CEO. "Pick a few more for him!"

Nawaki glanced at the two of them, then tiptoed behind a clothing rack to pick out clothes he liked.

Minato, on the other hand, was dragged around by Tsunade like a marionette, playing a never-ending game of dress-up.

"Orange looks good! Very energetic!"

"Yes, yes! But it's also because the kid is good-looking. It wouldn't work as well on someone else."

"Wrap it up!"

"Eh? Blue looks good too, gives a sunny beach vibe..."

"Oh my, you have a great eye!"

"Wrap it up!"

After buying several outfits, Tsunade looked at Minato and frowned slightly.

For some reason, even though Minato looked good in everything, she felt like something was missing.

It was an indescribable feeling, like an itch she couldn't scratch, making her increasingly irritable.

Minato looked at the mountain of shopping bags and tried to persuade her. "Sensei, these are enough. I'll grow out of them soon anyway."

"No, wait..."

Tsunade picked up a light green hoodie, held it up against Minato, shook her head, put it back, and aimlessly flipped through the rack.

Suddenly, she paused. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw an Uchiha walking past the window. The moment her gaze landed on the high collar of his shirt, her brain felt like it had been electrocuted. She looked at the owner excitedly.

"Do you have any high-collared clothes?"

"...Yes."

The owner looked at Minato thoughtfully.

She suddenly understood the "vibe" Tsunade was looking for.

Soon, she brought out a white outer robe.

The fabric wasn't thick; it was light and airy. It had no buttons and was meant to be worn open. The collar was high, and the sleeves were short, but the length was the same as a regular coat.

Minato froze when he saw the garment in the owner's hand.

Except for the length, the style looked exactly like the "Spirit Robe" (Haori) the Fourth Hokage wore in the original anime!

"Try it on. My taste is never wrong!"

The owner looked at Minato eagerly.

Minato nodded. As he reached for the robe, she suddenly grabbed a black long-sleeved shirt from the rack and shoved it into his hands. "Change into both."

A moment later, when Minato walked out of the fitting room, the two women in the store became visibly excited.

"That's the look!"

Tsunade pushed Minato in front of the mirror. Looking at himself, Minato was also slightly stunned.

At this moment, he felt like he was really looking at a mini version of the Fourth Hokage from the original series.

"So cool!!"

From behind a rack in the next aisle, Nawaki, who had just picked out his clothes, stood frozen in place when he saw Minato.

"Is this a Spirit Robe?"

"That's right, a Spirit Robe..."

The owner chuckled. "I told you my taste is never wrong. After all, even the Haori worn by the Hokages were stitched by me, one stitch at a time."

"Ehh—?!!"

Not just Tsunade and Nawaki—at this moment, even Minato was shocked.
