Chapter 2 - Death Twelve

It had been ten hours since his release. Leonard had cut his arm with the sharpened knife he found on the desk, he had done anything for confirmation, and truly, he did rebirth.

'This is different. Why?'

Every previous rebirth he began as a newborn. This time however, not only did he arrive in such a strange world, but in the body of a boy who already lived up to his teenage years.

A sixteen year old boy.

'Fantastic!'

That saved him one too many steps.

He took a proper look at himself. "Although, if I was going to rebirth in another world like this, could it not be in the body of someone a tad bit… impressive?"

To have no more than a week left to live…

Settling down on a wooden chair, he tapped a finger repeatedly on the desk. "Super humans…"

The Super Humans are like an umbrella group. And inside them are three species, the Vamp Humaas, the Demon Humaas and the Dragon Humaas. These species had special mutations unlike the regular humans "Humaas'

"As my memories tell, there are four continents and each is occupied by The Humaas of the regular humans, the Vamp Humaas, the Dragon Humaas and the Demon Humaas."

Leonard was a part of the Vamp Humaas and resided within their continent "Orvane"

In this continent, there are four kingdoms ranked by strength. The Eastern Kingdom, followed by the Western Kingdom, then the Northern and the Southern kingdom which has remained the weakest amongst the four for more than a decade now.

These kingdoms were each found on the East, West, North and South parts of the continent, hence their names.

The kingdom he resided in was the Eastern Kingdom, ruled by his father, King Alessien. Thus, Leonard is a prince,

He exhaled. "It will take me a while to arrange all these memories."

"My goal matters more, thus, for now, I must focus first and save this body before worrying about anything else. Otherwise, I'll die. And who knows, uncertain changes like this might occur again. And I do not like uncertainties'

Leonard pondered.

"What must I do now?"

He remained in a resting position in his chair, thinking.

'My father is the king. He is also near the academy now and I can request for his help. The question though is, will he be willing?'

He frowned lightly as he thought.

'The look in his eyes… it did not seem fond. And the eyes just cannot lie. But I wonder, how deep does his lack of fondness go? I cannot know unless I find out for myself'

Making up his mind, Leonard did not waste any time and left the dorm. He headed out of the royal combat academy to find the king.

Along the way, he realized how far backward this world was. It was not that developed, reminding him of the early parts of 1000 years of his lifetime in which he had witnessed the world evolve with incredible inventions.

People used carriages here.

But there was something else interesting this world held. Aside from carriages, both in the air and on the ground, people rode creatures that looked like beasts. Very large animals shaped oddly. Each had two horns on its forehead. It was fitting to call them beasts because they looked far too odd and larger than typical animals.

The buildings, precisely the manors and mansions, were built with marble walls and glass windows, very close to each other, reminding him of the streets of London. These types of homes were owned by the nobles and aristocrats. The commoners, however, owned homes built with timbers or stones and a few of them were even homeless by the street's sides, curled up against cold walls and begging for scraps of food.

Making mental notes of all these, Loenard finally arrived after almost thirty minutes of walking. He was stopped in front of a high white gate by two guards in identical uniforms.

Loose blue shirt, high black trousers, and a split blue colored overskirt that held their sword belt.

"I want to see my father," he said calmly.

They would not let him pass. One of them instead went inside. Twenty minutes of his time was wasted before the guard returned.

"His Majesty awaits you in his study." Their attitude was cold, and Leonard was confused.

Nevertheless, he cared little for it. It was no business of his how they treated him.

He walked through the clean compound and entered the manor. A maid led him to the study and he knocked on the door.

"Come in."

He stepped inside, and froze almost instantly.

Everywhere felt… suffocating. As if locked in a small room with no ventilation. He could barely breathe. It felt like a mountain pressed down on him.

'What… is this feeling?' Leonard's vigilance rose.

He was not afraid. But he was wary.

Lifting his eyes, he looked up to the tall figure that stood with arms clasped behind his back, watching the half moon. His purely white hair cascaded down to his shoulder.

Slowly, this middle aged man turned. They truly looked like father and son. Much like Leonard, his eyes were pitch black, but he rather had whites in them. He exuded a heavy sense of authority befitting a king.

However, it sent an unwanted sense of alertness down Leonard's body.

"Kneel." That voice wasn't loud, but it resounded clearly in one's ears as though a clap of thunder.

The might it carried made Leonard go weak on the knees. And against his will, he dropped to the floor and slammed his forehead into the cold marble. His pupils shrank as he understood, 'This is not just a lack of fondness, there is rage. But anger from what? What can make a father this angry at his own son?'

"What have you come here for?"

Leonard stayed calm regardless. "Help."

He waited for a response, but only silence came.

The clock in the study ticked over and over again.

It would make anyone anxious, Leonard however was indifferent and dared to lift his face. He was not surprised at the disgust that curled the king's features.

"Help you?" the king asked, sounding cruel. "Why should I offer help to a creature like you?"

Leonard could not rely on this man, he already understood.

Nevertheless, he went on, "Will you not help me? If so… do you want me dead?"

Something was bugging him. How could this man beg for the emperor's benevolence on his behalf, yet refuse to offer help to him?

But then, he suddenly understood something and he felt amused.'I see. That act was about his reputation as a loving father to his son. It'd be strange after all if he just allow his son to die'

He glanced at the king.

"Dead… you say?" The king's voice dropped low. He moved closer and his eyes narrowed viciously. A faint smile curved his lips.

It was sinister.

Leonard had no way to move under his suppression, hence, he could only watch as the king's booted leg suddenly snapped forward and slammed into his stomach. He was sent flying, his ribs shattering before he even crashed into the wall. The impact rattled his bones and he plummeted to the floor.

Pain exploded through his body. He coughed as blood spilled profusely from his mouth. He did not have the chance to even catch his breath when the king grabbed his hair and smashed his face into the ground.

He heard his nose break. A few teeth fell out. His ears rang and his head throbbed with blinding pain.

"You had the guts to come here after disgracing the royal family! You are a prince! Your status as an unawakened Vamp Humaa is already disgraceful as it is. Must you do more? Your misbehaviour reflects on my name!"

Leonard's disfigured face struck the floor again. The marble cracked beneath him. He could barely hear whatever the king was rambling about.

"You made me look like a fool before the emperor!"

Another blow.

His head fractured.

The world spun and his vision blurred as his brain throbbed violently.

He sighed. 'In the end, I could not even prevent my death for no more than a day'

What a shame.

Though he read the traces of lack of fondness, he had not thought as far as expecting the boy's father to kill him.

A miscalculation.

'Truly a shame. No matter. I would not count this as one of my worst deaths'

The final kick hit him square in the face, ratting his thoughts and sending him crashing into the floor. The impact crushed his skull entirely and broke his neck. His battered body fell with a dull thud in his own pool of blood.

Leonard… was dead.
