Chapter 142: Hizashi's Wedding; Izuna's Romance is a Total Fabrication
The Hyuga Clan Compound.
Hyuga Huomen stood at the entrance of the estate, a professional smile plastered
on his face as he greeted the arriving dignitaries.
Today was the day of Hizashi's grand wedding.
"Welcome! Please, head inside. Hizashi-senpai has been expecting you!"
"Commissioner Sakumo! My word, it's been far too long—" Huomen greeted the
legendary White Fang with intense enthusiasm. Although it was Hizashi's wedding,
Huomen felt a personal sense of pride.
In today's Konoha, Hizashi was the undisputed "Lead Brother" of the Branch
House. More importantly, he was a High Commissioner of the Konoha High
Commission and a core member of the Hokage's inner circle.
In the past, the clan elders had subtly pressured Hizashi to produce an heir. At
the time, Hizashi's response had been blunt: "My life belongs entirely to the
Prophet-Teacher. I have no intention of wasting my cognitive bandwidth on
domestic distractions!"
"The Hokage really is a visionary," Huomen whispered to himself. "Ordering
Hizashi-senpai to marry was the only way this would happen."
Huomen was unaware of the "experimental" nature of this union. Only Tenzou—the
Hyuga Elder, a fellow High Commissioner, and Hizashi's father—had been briefed
by Hiruzen. Far from being offended, Tenzou felt a flicker of genuine respect
for his younger son. Hizashi had truly carved out a new destiny, pushing through
the "wind and frost" of the Caged Bird Seal to reach the village's highest
echelon.
"Commissioner Kurama, this way please!"
"Candidate Minato! Ah, when are you returning to the Academy? The students are
dying to see another demonstration—"
As the guest list grew more prestigious, Huomen's excitement surged. Hizashi's
professional network was staggering.
Nearby, Hyuga Takashi—a member of the Main House who had volunteered to help
with the logistics—watched the scene with unconcealed envy. This was real
influence. This was real power.
His title as a "Main House" member sounded prestigious within the clan walls,
but outside? Nobody cared. Meanwhile, when Hizashi stood anywhere in Konoha, he
wasn't just a shinobi; he was an unignorable political force.
"They say even the 'Naturally Evil' Danzo Shimura has to show Hizashi some
professional courtesy because he acts as the Hokage's eyes," Takashi muttered
with a sigh.
A traitorous thought entered his mind: Was I born too early? If I had been born
into the Branch House, maybe I could have been the one standing where Hizashi
is.
"I'd better work harder on this wedding," Takashi thought, forcing a smile. "I
spent too much time acting superior to him in the past. It's time to pay that
debt. Maybe he'll put in a good word with the Prophet-Teacher for my next
performance review."
The Hyuga were a clan of a thousand-year lineage, and their protocols were dense
and formal. This was best displayed during the "Public Announcement of
Offerings." Whenever a High Shinobi arrived, Takashi would channel chakra to
amplify his voice, announcing their arrival to showcase both the guest's status
and the Hyuga's prosperity.
"Commissioner Hiruko, arriving!" "Commissioner Isshin, arriving!" "Commissioner
Tsunade, arriving!"
Takashi's voice began to tremble slightly as he shouted. Of the twenty seats on
the Konoha High Commission, more than half were already present. This didn't
even count senior officials like Shinnosuke Sarutobi.
In the old Konoha, a man of Hizashi's rank could have buried a Main House member
in a garden and claimed he was "planting medicinal herbs," and no one would have
dared to question him.
"The village really is changing under the Prophet-Teacher's administration,"
Takashi mused.
Hiruzen Sarutobi had successfully co-opted the Branch House through Hizashi, but
he hadn't neglected the Main House either. Tenzou, the clan head, was also a
High Commissioner. Currently, the father and son represented a perfect "Balanced
Master" dynamic: Tenzou handled external infiltration and intelligence, while
Hizashi managed internal monitoring for the Hokage.
Suddenly, Takashi's pupils contracted. Two heavyweight figures were walking
toward the gate.
"Is this where we register the gifts?"
Hiruzen Sarutobi and Orochimaru approached together. Hiruzen gave Takashi a
warm, grandfatherly nod. "This is my personal gift. And this envelope is from
Jiraiya—he's currently in a deep 'closed-door' training session at Mount
Myoboku. He couldn't make it in person, so I'm acting as his proxy. Please
convey his congratulations to Hizashi."
"Of course, Lord Hokage! Right away!" Takashi bowed deeply, his heart racing.
Look at Hizashi's circle. He doesn't even associate with Chunin anymore; his
'ROI' on social interactions is strictly High Commissioner level.
In reality, Hiruzen had just paid the gift fee for his idiot disciple, who had
no idea the wedding was even happening.
Hiruzen lingered for a moment, scanning the guest list. Seeing this, Takashi
gathered his courage. "Lord Hokage... do I... would there ever be an opportunity
for me to serve you directly?"
Hiruzen looked surprised. "The Main House life isn't comfortable enough? You
want to lean into the 'Market Competition' of the administration?"
"I... yes, Lord!"
"Well," Hiruzen asked with a small smile, "what are your core competencies?"
Takashi froze. What was he good at? He had pure Byakugan eyes, but his Gentle
Fist was mediocre at best. His face turned bright red.
"Don't be shy, young man," Hiruzen patted his shoulder. "In my administration,
everyone has a niche. It's not all about combat metrics."
Takashi stammered, "I... I am well-versed in High Clan etiquette. I understand
the nuances of noble protocols, diplomatic communication, and formal social
networking."
Orochimaru's expression remained neutral, but he felt a flicker of internal
disdain. So, he's an expert in the same sycophancy and social climbing as the
useless nobles in the Capital.
But Hiruzen's eyes lit up. "Excellent. I'll have my office contact you soon.
Work hard."
Takashi was stunned. Even a guy like me has utility?
As Hiruzen walked away, Orochimaru whispered, "Teacher, that man is essentially
a waste of space, minus his eyes. Why recruit him?"
"He's perfect for the Fire Country nobility," Hiruzen replied, his voice
dropping into a professional tone. "We're about to launch the Sovereign Sage
Pill marketing campaign and the Sage Beauty cosmetics line. We need someone who
can speak the language of 'Old Money' and feudal etiquette without looking like
a common soldier. He's a 'Natural Bureaucrat' for the luxury sector."
Orochimaru nodded, impressed. "Your talent acquisition strategy is truly
unparalleled."
Back at the gate, Takashi suppressed his excitement and prepared to register the
Hokage's gift. When he opened the box, his jaw dropped. Inside was the legendary
blade once carried by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju.
The Thunder Spirit Sword!
Takashi channeled his chakra, his voice booming across the entire compound:
"A personal gift from the Hokage to the groom, Hizashi: The cherished blade of
the Second Hokage, the world-renowned treasure—THE THUNDER SPIRIT SWORD!
Congratulations to the newlyweds!"
A massive roar of conversation erupted from the estate. The guests were stunned
by the sheer scale of the Prophet-Teacher's generosity.
Inside, Hizashi, standing on the main stage, reflexively gripped his bride's
hand. The Hokage had given him more "Face" than he ever thought possible.
Looking out at the crowd, he saw both Main and Branch house members looking at
him with pure, unadulterated envy.
"Humans spend their whole lives trying to heal from the shadows of their
childhood," Orochimaru whispered to Hiruzen via a private Genjutsu link. "It
seems Hizashi has finally stepped into the light."
"It's his big day," Hiruzen replied with a smile. "Let him enjoy the 'PR' value
of the moment."
After the ceremony, Hizashi hurried toward the bridal chamber. Interestingly, it
wasn't out of lust—Hizashi was largely indifferent to such things. He was simply
following Hiruzen's orders: Once an heir is secured, he can proceed with the
Chimera Experiment to upgrade his power for the village. In Hizashi's mind,
every day he wasn't a biological specimen for the Hokage's research was a day he
was failing in his duty.
Meanwhile, Isshin Uchiha was humming a tune as he walked back toward the Uchiha
district. He stopped by the residence of Seisui Uchiha (the clone containing
Tobirama's soul).
Isshin entered, carefully checking the door for "shadows" like a spy in a noir
film.
Seisui (Tobirama) looked at him with a deadpan expression. Ever since losing his
Mangekyo, the Uchiha Elder Isshin had become increasingly... theatrical. "Clan
Head Isshin, why are you here?"
"I just came from Hizashi's wedding," Isshin whispered, leaning in. "Did the
Eight Yatagarasu Spirits ritual work? Did you see the 'Ancestral Miracle'?"
"It worked," Seisui coughed. "I communicated with... Young Master Izuna."
Isshin gripped his fists, his eyes shining. "Praise the Ancestors! Did he agree
to grant you his power? Was the communication smooth?" To Isshin, Izuna Uchiha
was a legendary idol.
"He agreed," Seisui (Tobirama) said slowly, "but honestly? He's a bit of a
letdown. He started rambling about my lineage and telling me all these tall
tales..."
"Your lineage?" Isshin blinked. He assumed Izuna had identified Seisui as his
own descendant. "And what tall tales?"
"He told me to stay away from the Uzumaki girls because Mito Uzumaki once nearly
beat him to death with Adamantine Chains. And then he told me that Uchiha women
are 'dangerous and extreme' and should be avoided at all costs for a quiet
life."
Isshin paused. He wanted Seisui to get married and produce heirs as soon as
possible to solidify this "Miracle" in the clan.
"Ah, Seisui! Don't listen to the Young Master's bragging," Isshin said, waving a
hand dismissively. "The Warring States period was a violent, depressing time.
People made up stories to cope. Izuna probably made up those 'romances' to sound
cool. In reality? He probably didn't have many women interested in him at all."
Tobirama (inside Seisui's mind) felt a sudden, violent surge of spiritual
energy.
Izuna's ghost, anchored to the "Yatagarasu" system, was absolutely livid.
"If he talks about combat or clan strategy, listen to him," Isshin continued,
unaware of the danger. "But when it comes to his love life? It's all fiction.
Just nod and give him 'Face' so he keeps giving us power."
Seisui (Tobirama) felt a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. He looked
inward at the fuming spirit of his old rival. "Hear that, Izuna? Apparently,
your entire legendary status as a heartbreaker is just a 'Strategic
Fabrication.'"
Inside the seal, Izuna's spirit let out a string of curses that would have made
a sailor blush. "Let me out, Seisui! I'm going to kill that brat Isshin! He's
slandering my legacy!"
