Chapter 128: Tobirama vs. Danzo; Madara's Master-Level Conspiracy
A Secluded Forest in Konoha.
Tobirama Senju (as Seisui Uchiha) turned around slowly, his expression one of
pure, clinical boredom.
He looked at Danzo Shimura, who stood there in his usual grim attire: the black
robes, the excessive bandages, and a gnarled wooden cane he'd apparently picked
up just for the occasion. Danzo's face was set in a mask of rigid, "hard-boiled"
authority.
Tobirama felt a vein throb in his temple. He had to suppress a powerful urge to
kick the cane out from under the man.
I am an Uchiha now, Tobirama reminded himself. In my previous life, Danzo was
the most obedient of my students. If I gave an order, he over-executed it with
terrifying zeal. But now... look at him.
"Why are you still wearing those bandages?" Seisui asked, his voice dripping
with condescension.
"And a cane? Is your heart so hollow that you need physical props to decorate
your authority? It's a bit dramatic, don't you think?"
Tobirama's tone shifted into a flamboyant, "Naturally Evil" Uchiha register.
"Ah, I see. Lord Hiruzen just displayed two legendary bloodlines in a single
afternoon. You realized you can't keep up with his growth, so you're
over-compensating with the 'Mummy' look to remind everyone you're still
relevant."
"The 'Darkness of the Shinobi.' The 'Root of the Leaf.' You keep shouting those
titles at people, but every time you stand next to the Hokage, people forget
you're even there."
"I've been in the village for two months, and honestly, you haven't made a
single bit of progress. It's embarrassing."
Tobirama performed a stylish half-turn, looking back at Danzo with a mocking
smirk. "Elder Isshin told me you're dying to be the Fourth Hokage. But looking
at the current board... even if a disaster hit and you accidentally ended up
with the hat, no one in the world would ever think you were on Hiruzen's level."
"What do you think, Lord Assistant?"
Tobirama was enjoying the "Poison Spray." He was hitting every one of Danzo's
psychological weak points. As a "Traumatized Uchiha Teenager," this was exactly
how he was supposed to react to a high-ranking official who had been trying to
intimidate him since his rescue.
Danzo's fists clenched so hard his knuckles cracked audibly. His face flushed a
violent shade of red.
This cursed Uchiha brat! Danzo fumed. How does he know exactly where to bite?
Every word is a razor!
The truth hurt. Danzo was currently drowning in anxiety. After witnessing
Hiruzen master Ice Style and Boil Style in the span of ten minutes, Danzo had
finally accepted a crushing reality:
He would never beat Hiruzen in a fight.
Until he perfected his Wind Style Chakra Mode, sparring with Hiruzen was no
longer a contest; it was a "mercy session" where the Hokage humored his old
friend. Danzo's pride couldn't take it. He didn't want to be the younger brother
being "protected" by his older brother. He wanted to be a rival.
Having hit a wall in combat, Danzo had decided to pivot to "Legacy
Politics"—mimicking Orochimaru by scouting a genius student.
Seisui was his target. He wanted to replicate Tobirama's move with Kagami
Uchiha—securing a loyal Uchiha prodigy to use as a bridge for the clan. If he
succeeded where his Master had only partially succeeded, it would prove he was
the true heir to Tobirama's will.
But being "roasted" by his potential student was not part of the plan.
In the Mountains' Graveyard.
"LORD MADARA! WAKE UP! THE SHOW IS STARTING!"
White Zetsu chirped, vibrating with excitement. "The 'Seisui Program' is live!
The guest star is the 'Tobirama-Discount'—Danzo Shimura!"
Madara Uchiha opened his Rinnegan, his consciousness linking to the Zetsu
network. He had been napping, waiting for the Grand Meeting at the Naka Shrine,
but a "pre-game show" was always welcome. He gestured for Zetsu to bring him
some wine and dried meat.
The moment he saw Seisui's sharp, clinical verbal execution of Danzo, Madara's
boredom vanished.
"Hah! What a tongue!" Madara rasped, a genuine grin touching his face.
"He fights like a beast and talks like a poet. He's exactly like Izuna. My
brother used to tear into Tobirama with the same kind of lethal precision—using
only the most painful words."
Madara slapped his stone throne. "This is cathartic! I haven't felt this good
since I stole Hashirama's cells!"
The Forest Path.
Danzo finally found his voice, his eyes narrowing into slits. "Your tongue is
venomous, brat. I only hope your heart is stronger than your mouth."
"Why such hostility? Is it because I am the Master's student and you are an
Uchiha? Your thinking is becoming narrow—clannish. You are drifting away from
the Will of Fire."
It was the classic Danzo play: The Ideological Trap.
Tobirama (as Seisui) let out a cold, sharp laugh. "I respect Lord Tobirama more
than you can imagine. But are you so desperate that you have to hide behind a
dead man's reputation just to win an argument with a student?"
Tobirama was genuinely offended. Seeing Danzo use his name to justify petty
bullying made his blood boil.
I used 'The Will' to build a civilization, Danzo. You're using it to justify
your own insecurity. If you become Hokage, Konoha will look like the Mist within
a month—a 'Blood Forest' ruled by a paranoid mummy.
"Why are you silent?" Seisui pressed.
"Let's be honest, Lord Assistant. Your logic is simple: The Second Hokage and
the Uchiha are enemies, therefore my attitude toward you is a 'Clan Grudge.'
You're framing my dislike of you as a racial issue to cover the fact that I just
think you're incompetent."
Tobirama stared Danzo down.
In his first life, Tobirama prided himself on being a fair ruler. He had
suppressed the Uchiha based on Risk Assessment, not personal hatred. He had a
specific reason for that: he didn't want Izuna laughing at him from the Pure
Land.
Izuna had died claiming that an alliance with the Senju was a death sentence for
the Uchiha. Tobirama had spent his entire reign trying to prove that Uchiha dog
wrong. He wanted to build a village so stable that even Izuna would have to
admit his "Pragmatic Rival" had succeeded.
Danzo's "Darkness" role was an insult to that legacy. It made Tobirama look like
a petty hater rather than a visionary statesman.
"You—! How dare you level such a charge against me! You are twisting my words!"
Danzo barked. "The Master didn't target the Uchiha out of spite! He did it to
prevent the radicals from destroying the village! I am simply maintaining his
Vigilance!"
"A rule that allows no dissent is not a rule; it's a cage," Seisui countered.
"If a policy is good, people follow it. If it's flawed, they question it. That
is how a village grows. If you forbid questions, you create a village of
tools—and tools eventually break."
"I have no problem with Lord Hiruzen. He is a great Kage. But I have a problem
with you."
"I've been watching the village, Danzo. I've seen the 'Root' files the Anbu
'accidentally' let slip. You kidnapped orphans. You extorted clans. You turned
our brightest talents into unfeeling masks."
"And you claim that was 'His Will'?"
Danzo stiffened. "There is no light without shadows, boy! To have a prosperous
canopy, you must have roots in the dirt! The Ninja World is a hell! We must be
as ruthless as our enemies to survive!"
"I approached you because I saw the Darkness in your eyes. I wanted to guide
that darkness to protect Konoha!"
"You're an Uchiha. You're emotional. You're unstable. But you have the reaction
speed to carry the weight that others can't. Join me. I am the true successor to
Tobirama Senju. Become my student, and I will put you on the path to becoming
the Fifth Hokage!"
Danzo threw down his ultimate card. He was certain no Uchiha could refuse the
chance to sit at the high table. They were obsessed with "Face" and "Power."
This was a VIP pass to the inner circle.
Tobirama looked at Danzo and slowly shook his head.
"No. I have zero interest in becoming Hokage."
Danzo recoiled. "What? Why?! A shinobi without ambition is a failure!"
"I want the village to be better, Danzo. And Konoha has already given me more
than I deserve."
Seisui adopted the "Traumatized Orphan" mask again. "I spent years in a Grass
Village toilet. I was a slave. I was a battery. If the Hokage hadn't risked
everything to pull me out of that hole, I'd be a corpse today."
"I love the Leaf. I love the Uchiha. My brothers, the elders, the free food at
the Academy... these are things I will protect for free. I don't need a hat or a
title to pay back my debt of gratitude."
"I want to build a perfect Konoha. Whether I lead it or not doesn't matter to
me."
Tobirama's voice was calm, but he added a layer of Uchiha-tier "Obsessive
Conviction" to the speech.
Danzo's gaze softened. The hostility vanished, replaced by a surge of rare
empathy. A boy with no past, no family, and a total devotion to the 'Good' of
the village...
He's a younger version of me, Danzo thought. He's the 'Root' I was before I got
greedy. He's a pure weapon.
"I take back my insults, lad," Danzo said, his voice becoming
uncharacteristically gentle. "You are a rare kind of Uchiha."
"But you must understand. Hiruzen is a kind man. Too kind. He doesn't like to
get his hands dirty. But someone has to. If the Hokage carries the 'Darkness,'
it ruins the village's image. I carry the weight so he can be the 'Sun.'"
Tobirama nodded slowly. This was the "Middle-Management Logic" he had taught
Danzo years ago. It was sound, but Danzo had taken it to a pathological extreme.
"And some ninjas are born into the dark," Danzo continued. "If they aren't
controlled, they'll hurt the village. I built a department to house them, to use
their darkness against our enemies!"
"You have that same potential, Seisui. Join me."
Tobirama let out a cold snort. "Your 'Logic' is fifty years out of date, Danzo."
"No one is 'Naturally Evil.' Not even the Uchiha. They just need the right
Incentives and Oversight."
"Wait... are you still planning on that 'Madara's Will' nonsense?" Danzo asked,
his tone turning sharp. He had seen the request for the Grand Meeting.
"Redefining a traitor? It's a scandal waiting to happen! You're going to walk
into a trap, boy!"
"Madara Uchiha is the reason Lord Hashirama died! He's a rogue!"
"If Lord Hashirama were here today, would you dare say that to his face?" Seisui
asked coldly.
Danzo choked on his words.
In the Mountains' Graveyard.
Madara was leaning so far forward he nearly fell off his chair.
"HE SAID IT!" Madara roared. "He brought up Hashirama's mercy! He knows the
truth!"
"I spent decades hiding in this hole because I knew Tobirama would label me a
traitor and dissect my body the second I 'died.' But Hashirama... that beautiful
fool... he hid my 'corpse' and refused to let the village brand me a criminal.
He insisted we were just brothers with a disagreement."
"Even I had to stop my plans for a decade out of respect for that debt. And
now... this boy is using that same debt to shut Danzo's mouth!"
"I declare Seisui the Sole Heir to Madara's Will! The title is his!"
The Forest Path.
"I'm going to teach you a lesson, Lord Assistant," Seisui said, his voice
dropping to a whisper.
"I'm going to show you that the 'Will of Fire' isn't just a slogan. It's an
institutional standard."
"If you haven't corrected the 'Root' issues by the time I graduate... I will use
my own methods to protect the Leaf. I'm giving you a chance to repent. Admit
your mistakes. Fix the families you've broken. It's not that hard, Danzo. Just
take the first step."
Danzo stared at the boy. "You? A student? You're going to judge me? Don't make
me laugh!"
Tobirama waved a dismissive hand and began walking away. "I've said my piece.
Don't say I didn't warn you."
Hiruzen isn't purging Danzo because the 'Bond' is too strong, Tobirama realized
as he walked toward the compound. He's waiting for a 'Third Party' to do it for
him. He wants to be the judge who moderates the fight, not the butcher who
starts it.
Clever Monkey. You put me in this position to be your 'Voice of Accountability.'
Fine. I'll play the role. I'll break Danzo's pride and rebuild him into a proper
servant of the village.
Tobirama was already planning his next move. To gain the ultimate standing in
the clan, he needed a "Solid Feat." He needed to out-perform the old guard.
In the Mountains' Graveyard.
Madara Uchiha had finished his wine. His eyes were burning with a new, dark
purpose.
"Seisui's faith in the village is too deep. He thinks he can 'fix' the system
from the inside. He's a pure Uchiha—he thinks the world can be perfect."
"But it can't. And I'm going to show him why."
"White Zetsu, prepare the Moral Dilemma Trap."
"We're going to give the Uchiha a mission. A vital, high-stakes mission for the
Land of Fire. And in the middle of it, we'll force them to choose between 'The
Rules' and 'A Comrade.'"
"If they follow the rules, Seisui's heart will break at the cruelty of the
village. If they save the comrade and fail the mission, Danzo and Hiruzen will
be forced to punish them to satisfy the nobles."
"Either way, the 'Will of Fire' dies. And Seisui will realize that the only true
peace... is the Moon."
Madara smirked, his "Naturally Evil" genius firing on all cylinders.
"I'll let Hiruzen think he's won the 'Economic War.' I'll let my Master think
he's won the 'Political War.'"
"But the Psychological War? That belongs to me."
