Chapter 59 - CHAPTER 59: Mess

KAYLA'S POV (Continuing):

At the hotel, My office

I dropped my bag on the desk and opened the files that were scattered everywhere.

"Oh God… I don't understand a single thing…"

My eyes scanned the documents in confusion.

"And where the hell is my coffee?!"

My voice echoed sharply through the room.

A waiter nervously rushed in.

"H-here ma'am… here."

He placed the coffee on my desk with shaking hands.

I glared at him.

"You little...where are the files of the previous customers?"

I flipped through the papers aggressively.

"Where did that bitch hide them before disappearing, huh?"

My voice grew colder.

"Or was she too busy with her precious family to even bother organizing them?"

The waiter swallowed nervously.

"I-I don't know, ma'am…"

He stammered.

"I can call the receptionist. She usually keeps the lists of today's and previous customers… she might have them."

I slammed my hand on the desk.

"Then call her and bring them here right now!"

"O-okay ma'am! I'm going!"

"Hurry."

He rushed out immediately.

A few minutes later I sat staring at the files again.

None of it made sense.

Numbers.

Budgets.

Contracts.

Expenses.

Everything looked like a different language to me.

"Budget… five million?"

My eyes widened.

"At this rate I'll end up poor taking care of this hotel."

Suddenly a voice whispered in my head.

The devil sitting on my left shoulder smirked.

"Sell this hotel…"

"You'll become richer."

"Open a boutique instead."

"Something that actually makes money."

Then another voice spoke.

The angel sitting on my right shoulder frowned.

"Don't even think about it."

"This hotel is your late father's day and night of hard work."

"How could you even think about letting it go?"

My frustration exploded.

"SHUT UP BOTH OF YOU!"

I slammed my desk loudly.

When I looked up, a woman was standing in front of my desk, staring at me with wide eyes.

Probably wondering if I was insane.

I frowned.

"What?"

I leaned back in my chair.

"Who are you?"

"And what are you doing here?"

The woman spoke calmly.

"I'm Natalie, the cook of this hotel, ma'am."

I rolled my eyes.

"Cook?"

"So what?"

"Are you here to discuss what you're cooking today?"

"No ma'am."

She looked slightly uncomfortable.

"I'm here to ask for my salary."

I blinked.

"Salary?"

I straightened up.

"But all staff salaries were already paid from the monthly budget I gave."

Natalie shook her head.

"No ma'am."

Her voice was quiet but firm.

"For the past month, the manager didn't pay us. She told us that you would give us the salaries personally."

My fists clenched tightly.

"Me? Personally?"

I gritted my teeth.

"That little bitch…"

I inhaled sharply to calm myself.

"Fine."

I waved my hand dismissively.

"I'll fix it soon. You'll receive your salary."

She nodded slightly.

"Now get out of my sight."

An hour later…

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling again.

Who the hell was I supposed to ask for help?

Theo?

No.

Theo would tell his father.

And his father definitely wouldn't lend him even a penny for this hotel.

I sighed deeply.

Then suddenly a name popped into my mind.

"Wait…"

"Ryuk."

A small smile appeared on my lips.

He once told me to call him anytime if I ever needed help.

I picked up my phone and dialed his number.

The line rang.

Then someone picked up.

I spoke politely.

"안녕하세요… 류크 씨 계신가요?"

"My name is Kayla."

"I'm Ryuk's friend from Manila."

"If it's okay… could you please tell him to call me when he gets free?"

I lowered the phone slowly.

Now…

All I had to do was wait.
