Chapter 82 - two years later

Chapter — Two Years Later

Jay's POV

People say happy endings are peaceful.

That after marriage life becomes soft and perfect like those fairytales Lia forced everyone to watch.

Honestly?

That was a lie.

Real love wasn't perfect.

It was messy.

Loud.

Painful sometimes.

And beautiful anyway.

Right now I stood in the kitchen holding a cup of coffee while tiny footsteps ran across the mansion at dangerous speed.

"MUMMA!"

A small body crashed directly into my legs.

I laughed softly while looking down.

Keth.

Mine and Kiefer's son.

Two years old.

Tiny.

Chaotic.

And unfortunately carrying his father's attitude already.

His black hair was messy from sleep while his tiny arms wrapped around my legs dramatically.

"Mumma papa said no chocolate."

I raised an eyebrow. "And?"

"He's rude."

Honestly accurate.

Before I could answer another tiny scream echoed through the house.

"KETH WAIT!"

Then came Ethan.

Aries and Ella's four-year-old son.

The sweetest child alive.

Unlike his father.

He ran into the kitchen wearing dinosaur pajamas while holding a toy airplane proudly.

"Keth stole my biscuit."

"It was OUR biscuit," Keth defended immediately.

"You ate my half."

"You're dramatic."

I blinked slowly.

That sentence was literally something Kiefer said daily.

God help me.

Then suddenly another tiny child entered calmly holding a book.

Matt.

Jas and Yuri's son.

The only peaceful child among this generation of chaos.

"Aunty Jay," he sighed tiredly like a forty-year-old man. "They're fighting again."

"How are you already exhausted at three years old?"

"My parents are loud."

Fair point honestly.

Before I could respond—

Twin cries echoed upstairs.

I immediately smiled.

Aion and Lian.

Dane and Lia's twins.

Which basically meant the mansion would become a war zone in five seconds.

And right on schedule—

Lia's scream echoed through the hallway.

"DANE YOUR SON THREW CEREAL AT ME."

"WHY IS IT MY SON?"

"BECAUSE HE HAS YOUR ATTITUDE."

"He literally bites people like YOU."

I laughed into my coffee.

Some things never changed.

Living Room

The mansion was crowded again.

Just like old times.

Only now instead of dangerous missions and school drama…

There were babies everywhere.

Toys everywhere.

Tiny shoes everywhere.

And honestly?

I loved it.

Ella sat peacefully near the couch feeding baby Ethan snacks while Aries silently fixed Ethan's toy car beside her.

Two years later and Aries was still the calmest person in the group.

Until Ethan cried.

Then suddenly Aries became more dangerous than all of us combined.

"Who made him sad?"

"Papa I dropped biscuit," Ethan sniffed sadly.

Aries immediately crouched beside him seriously.

"We attack the floor."

Ella laughed softly while watching them.

Meanwhile across the room Angelo carried baby Ester dramatically like a royal princess.

"My daughter deserves a castle."

Ion rolled her eyes lovingly. "She just threw mashed banana at you."

"That was elegance."

"No that was violence."

Honestly Ester already controlled Angelo completely.

And everyone knew it.

Especially him.

Nearby Percy sat beside Honey calmly helping organize baby clothes.

Well…

Trying to.

Because Honey currently looked annoyed at the entire universe.

"I hate pregnancy."

Percy looked up from the tiny socks carefully.

"You said that yesterday."

"And I meant it."

She crossed her arms dramatically.

"My back hurts."

"My feet hurt."

"And if one more person says pregnancy glow I'll fight them."

Percy calmly handed her juice. "Violence won't help."

"It'll help me emotionally."

He kissed her forehead softly anyway.

Honestly Percy becoming soft after marriage still shocked everyone.

Balcony

Sometimes I still couldn't believe this was our life now.

Peaceful mornings.

Family dinners.

Children running everywhere.

No fear.

No enemies.

Just happiness.

Well…

Mostly happiness.

Because marriage wasn't easy.

Especially ours.

Kiefer and I fought a lot.

Like…

A LOT.

The first year after marriage was honestly terrifying.

Two stubborn people.

Two strong personalities.

Both terrible at communicating.

Absolute disaster.

I remember one fight so clearly.

Flashback — One Year Ago

"You always shut people out!" I shouted angrily.

Kiefer glared back immediately. "And you always run into danger without thinking."

"Because someone has to fix things!"

"And someone has to protect you."

"I don't need protection!"

"That's exactly why I'm stressed all the time!"

The argument exploded worse after that.

Weeks of stress.

Business pressure.

Family responsibilities.

Everything built up together.

Until finally—

"I can't do this right now," he muttered coldly before leaving.

That sentence broke me completely.

For three days we barely spoke.

Three horrible days.

The mansion felt empty without him beside me.

I hated it.

I hated missing him while being angry at him.

Then on the fourth night—

Heavy rain poured outside while I sat alone in the living room pretending not to cry.

Suddenly the front door opened.

Kiefer walked inside completely soaked from rain.

And before I could speak—

He pulled me into his arms tightly.

"I'm sorry."

Just that.

Two words.

But somehow enough.

I remember crying against his chest while he held me quietly.

Because love wasn't about never fighting.

It was choosing each other even after the fight.

Again and again.

And somehow…

We always did.

Present

Strong arms suddenly wrapped around my waist from behind.

"There you are."

Kiefer.

Still terrifyingly handsome.

Still annoyingly calm.

Still my favorite person.

I leaned back against him comfortably while watching the garden outside.

"Kids destroying the house again?"

"Yes."

"Good."

I laughed softly.

"You encourage chaos."

"You married chaos."

Fair point.

Kiefer rested his chin lightly on my shoulder.

For a moment we stayed quiet peacefully.

Then softly he asked,

"What are you thinking about?"

I smiled slightly.

"Us."

"That sounds dangerous."

"Very."

He kissed my temple gently.

Honestly after two years…

That still made my heart race embarrassingly fast.

"You know," I murmured quietly, "there were moments I thought we wouldn't survive each other."

Kiefer looked amused. "Especially during the kitchen argument."

"Oh my god don't remind me."

"It was your fault."

"You burned pasta!"

"You distracted me."

"You were literally staring at walls dramatically."

"They were stressful walls."

I laughed loudly.

God.

This man.

But then my expression softened again.

"We changed a lot."

Kiefer stayed quiet for a second.

Then nodded slowly.

"Yeah."

And we really did.

The cold boy who hated emotional attachment became the father who woke up at 3AM because Keth had nightmares.

The reckless girl who rushed into danger learned how to slow down.

Together.

Step by step.

Garden

Everyone gathered outside later for lunch.

The weather was beautiful.

Children ran everywhere while adults talked peacefully.

Honestly it felt unreal sometimes.

Dane chased Aion across the grass while Lia held baby Lian dramatically.

"YOUR SON BIT ME AGAIN."

"He's exploring emotions."

"He attacked my shoulder!"

Meanwhile Angelo refused to let anyone hold Ester longer than five seconds.

"She's cold."

"It's summer," Ion deadpanned.

"She looked emotionally cold."

Aries quietly grilled food while Ethan proudly "helped" by making things worse.

Percy sat beside Honey protectively while she complained continuously.

"My child wants spicy noodles."

"You can't feed a baby spicy noodles."

"I WANT spicy noodles."

"Oh."

Percy immediately stood up.

Honestly whipped behavior.

We all noticed it.

Jas laughed loudly while Yuri held Matt in his lap.

"You used to act scary," she teased Percy.

"I still am."

Honey looked unimpressed. "You cried during baby shopping."

"That stroller was expensive."

We all burst out laughing.

For a moment I just watched everyone quietly.

This family.

These people.

We survived so much together.

School fights.

Heartbreak.

Danger.

Betrayals.

And now look at us.

Married.

Happy.

Healing.

Maybe not perfect.

But real.

Evening

Sunset painted the sky beautifully while the kids finally started calming down.

Well…

Most of them.

Keth still ran around holding toy dinosaurs aggressively.

"Mumma!"

I turned immediately as he ran toward me again.

"What happened?"

He climbed onto my lap dramatically.

"Papa said no more chocolate."

I sighed deeply. "Because you already had three."

He gasped in betrayal. "Papa mean."

I laughed softly while fixing his messy hair.

Then footsteps approached behind us.

Kiefer.

Of course.

He looked between us suspiciously.

"What is he planning now?"

"Your son believes you're evil."

"Our son ate chocolate before dinner."

Keth crossed his tiny arms angrily.

"I need more."

"You need vegetables."

"That sounds fake."

I nearly choked laughing.

Kiefer sighed tiredly before lifting him into his arms.

"Come on."

Keth immediately pointed dramatically toward the gate.

"Papa buy chocolate because cousins coming!"

"Your cousins are not your excuse."

"Yes they are."

Honestly manipulation ran in the family.

After a moment Kiefer finally gave up.

"Fine. One chocolate."

Keth cheered proudly.

Before leaving he kissed my cheek quickly.

"Love u mumma."

My heart melted instantly.

"Love you too baby."

Then he turned toward Kiefer proudly.

"Papa hurry."

Kiefer looked at me helplessly while carrying him.

I just smiled softly.

"What?" he asked quietly.

"Nothing."

For a second he just stared at me.

Then slowly—

His expression softened completely.

The same look he always gave me when words weren't enough.

After all these years…

He still looked at me like I was something precious.

Keth suddenly covered Kiefer's mouth dramatically.

"No kissing mumma now. Chocolate first."

I burst out laughing.

Kiefer looked offended. "I'm being controlled by a toddler."

"Yes," I replied proudly.

After Keth finally ran ahead toward the gate, Kiefer stepped closer again.

"Now can I kiss my wife?"

"Depends."

"On?"

"How much chocolate are you buying?"

He laughed softly before pulling me gently closer.

And then—

He kissed me slowly.

Warm.

Familiar.

Safe.

Not the wild desperate kisses from our younger years.

This one felt deeper somehow.

Like home.

Like every fight we survived.

Every broken moment repaired.

Every choice that brought us back together.

When we pulled apart slightly, our foreheads rested together quietly.

"I still love you more," he whispered.

I smiled softly. "Debatable."

"Impossible."

Before I could answer—

"EW THEY'RE KISSING!"

All of us turned.

Every single person stood near the garden entrance watching dramatically.

Lia covered Aion's eyes.

Jas looked emotional.

Angelo looked disgusted.

"Children are present!"

"You literally flirt with Ion every five minutes," I reminded him.

"That's different."

"It absolutely isn't," Percy replied calmly.

Honey suddenly groaned beside him. "If romance starts again I'm leaving."

"You're hormonal," Angelo informed her wisely.

Honey threw bread at his face immediately.

Chaos exploded.

Again.

Exactly like old times.

The children started running everywhere again.

Ethan chased Keth.

Matt tried stopping them responsibly.

Aion stole someone's juice.

Lian cried because Lia stopped her from eating flowers.

Adults laughed loudly around the garden while sunset glowed beautifully above us.

And suddenly—

Looking at everyone together—

I realized something.

Maybe life never became perfect.

Maybe we still argued.

Still struggled.

Still made mistakes.

But after everything we survived…

We found happiness anyway.

Together.

And honestly?

That was enough.

More than enough.

Because in the end—

Section E didn't just become friends.

We became family.

Forever.
