Chapter 137 - Chapter 132.3: When Alex Comes Knocking

Loki smiled, "I did see how you were chased around like rats by some unknown guy."

"Even my thunder-wielding brother wasn't a match for him."

"So in my eyes, your Avengers… are worthless."

Tony picked up the drink, took a sip, and walked toward Loki, "Not necessarily. You know, we just lost a friend."

"Not directly by your hand, but indirectly, it's because of you."

"So you've managed to piss off every single one of us."

Loki clasped his hands behind his back and smiled, "And what of it?"

Suddenly—

He grabbed Tony Stark and slammed him to the ground, "You insects belong on the ground, bowing before me."

"You're not even close to being able to fight me."

On the ground, Tony muttered, "JARVIS, what are you waiting for?"

"You will all kneel before me and beg for my forgiveness!"

Loki walked over and yanked Tony up from the floor.

Tony didn't bother hiding it anymore and shouted, "Now! Activate it!"

Loki laughed, "Nothing can save you now."

With a forceful throw, he sent Tony crashing through the glass, sending him flying out.

At the same time, from an automatic door deeper in the room, something shot out, passed by Loki, and chased after Tony Stark as he fell from the tower.

Tony Stark plummeted rapidly toward the ground, but still kept calm enough to spread his arms so the suit could lock onto the bracelets on his wrists.

Above him, the Mark 7 suit raced down, firing two infrared beams to lock onto the bracelets.

The suit then unfolded midair, caught up to Tony, and assembled onto him automatically.

At the very moment he was about to hit the ground, Iron Man completed the suit-up and fired thrusters to generate upward force, stabilizing himself.

At that moment, the device on the rooftop of Stark Tower fired a blue energy beam. The beam shot into the sky and formed a stable portal.

Inside the portal was outer space, somewhere unknown in the universe. In the dark void, sunlight from Earth illuminated countless figures.

They were Chitauri riding flying vehicles, their numbers far exceeding the army seen in the movie.

Among these seemingly endless Chitauri, there were massive Leviathan warships shaped like deep-sea creatures, and gigantic vessels as large as entire cities.

When the portal opened, the Chitauri soldiers riding flying crafts rushed in first. One figure after another surged toward the portal, breaking through from outer space into Earth's atmosphere, bathing in brilliant sunlight.

"Damn it!", Seeing the Chitauri army pouring out of the portal above, Tony cursed and shot upward, not even bothering to settle things with Loki.

The honeycomb missile pods on Mark 7's shoulders opened, and one miniature missile after another blasted out in rapid succession, howling through the air as they struck Chitauri soldiers one by one, turning the sky above Stark Tower into a dazzling, explosive display like fireworks.

All of this was seen by Alex.

At that moment, he was inside a building. The woman who had provided him with a mental teleportation coordinate had fainted in fright when Alex suddenly appeared like a ghost.

Alex had a faint smile on his lips as he watched Iron Man fight desperately to hold back the cosmic army.

He knew the portal hadn't fully opened yet. What had come through so far was only the Chitauri vanguard.

Those massive Leviathan warships hadn't entered yet. Otherwise, Tony Stark would be even busier right now.

Even with Iron Man trying to stop them, it was useless. He was only one man. Two fists couldn't fight four hands, let alone hundreds and thousands of Chitauri soldiers constantly pouring into Earth. There was no way Iron Man alone could intercept them all.

Very soon, the Chitauri began leaving Stark Tower, spreading out across the sky and heading toward other parts of Manhattan.

On the roads, cars came to a halt. Pedestrians and drivers alike looked toward Stark Tower.

Because of the distance, they couldn't see clearly what was happening yet. Some even wondered why Stark Tower was setting off fireworks in broad daylight.

Until large numbers of Chitauri soldiers on flying crafts came roaring in, firing beams of advanced weaponry down onto the streets.

Dense barrages bombarded the ground, creating fireballs one after another, flipping cars, shattering bridges, and causing buildings to explode repeatedly.

Only then did the people on the streets scream and run for their lives, rushing into shops and underground parking garages.

From high above, centered on Stark Tower, the flames of war were spreading outward in all directions.

A flying craft approached the building where Alex was. The Chitauri aboard spotted him and turned to attack.

Then suddenly stopped.

They raised their weapon and fired at their own craft, blowing it up and sending themselves crashing down.

Without any effort, Alex used mind invasion to control the Chitauri soldier's body, forcing him into abnormal actions and avoiding exposing himself.

At that moment, he saw Loki walk out of Stark Tower. His body glowed as a horned helmet formed over his head, a green cloak fluttering behind him.

Just then, a figure landed on the aerial walkway of Stark Tower. It was Thor, hammer in hand.

"Looks like the Avengers are here."

Alex's figure turned intangible as he switched into his mental form. He expanded his mental field, covering all of Manhattan and marking countless mental coordinates.

Then he selected a Chitauri who had just entered through the portal as an anchor point.

Pop!

Alex's figure dispersed like smoke and vanished into the air.

When he reappeared, he was already near the portal. Switching back to his physical form, Alex flew straight into it.

A group of Chitauri rushed toward him like a school of fish returning to the sea. Alex smiled faintly, "Don't block my way."

His eyes lit up, and golden beams burst forth. The dazzling, blazing light instantly tore through the darkness of outer space, shooting straight upward, blasting countless Chitauri into fragments, even striking a Leviathan warship and punching straight through its deep-sea-creature-like body.

Then the beam expanded and erupted like a wave of fire, triggering a violent explosion that tore a wound through the Chitauri army and carved out a path.

Inside the Chitauri flagship, Sanctuary II, in the command center, a pair of eyes watched the entire process of that fiery corridor forming in space below.

This was the Chitauri commander, the one responsible for communicating with Loki.

"What is that?"

The commander roared in the Chitauri language, "Magnify the image onto the main screen."

Very soon, the large screen displayed the scene.

At the origin point of that "fiery corridor" stood a blond man in a black battle suit, wearing a red cape.

A human man.

"Who is that?"

"Loki never mentioned this person!"

The Chitauri commander shouted, "Notify the Third Legion. Intercept that target at full force!"

The flagship's order was quickly transmitted. In outer space, a Chitauri legion broke away from the main formation and headed toward Alex.

Alex, meanwhile, raised his head and looked toward the flagship above. He expanded his mental field, rapidly marking one mental coordinate after another, then used the mind of a Chitauri aboard the flagship as an anchor point.

With a pop, Alex, now in mental form, vanished from space. The Third Legion immediately lost its target.

At the same time, Alex appeared inside the flagship, terrifying the Chitauri soldier he had used as his teleportation anchor.

Alex didn't even glance at him. He grabbed the soldier's head and slammed it against the wall. Instantly, brain matter splattered, and the corpse slid down slowly.

Only then did nearby soldiers react, raising their beam weapons and firing at Alex frantically.

In the command center, the Chitauri commander standing on the bridge suddenly heard alarms blaring.

Then a soldier reported, "Commander, an intruder has appeared aboard the flagship."

"Commander, the intruder is in Sector Seven."

The commander shouted, "Seal off Sector Seven immediately. Send the security team. Use all means to eliminate the intruder."

But just then, his vision blurred.

A mass of light suddenly appeared in front of him.

The light solidified in an instant, and his field of vision abruptly rose. He had been lifted into the air.

Alex!

Using mind transfer, Alex had easily infiltrated the command center.

Looking at this Chitauri who was dressed differently from the others, Alex smiled.

"Don't tell me you don't understand Earth's language."

The commander suddenly threw a punch at Alex's face. The strike created a ripple of force, but it didn't even move a single strand of Alex's hair.

Alex smiled, grabbed the commander's arm, and twisted it hard. The bones tore through the flesh. With another pull, he ripped the entire arm off and tossed it aside.

Blood spurted from the wound. Just as the commander let out a scream, Alex fired two golden streams. The high-temperature beams circled the wound once, sealing the blood vessels, though the pain nearly made the commander faint.

At that moment, other Chitauri rushed forward. Alex didn't hold back. His eyes fired lasers in a sweeping motion.

All the rushing Chitauri froze.

Then their bodies separated into pieces, their weapons fell apart. With a clatter, corpses dropped in a heap.

"Don't come closer!", the commander shouted.

Then he spoke in Earth's language, "We can speak ten thousand different planetary languages. Your Earth language is not complicated."

"So yes, I can speak it."

Alex smiled and released him, letting the commander fall to the ground.

"See? That wasn't so hard."

"So, who's in charge here?"

The Chitauri commander didn't dodge the question. He stood up, "I am."

"What do you want, human?"

Alex crossed his arms, "I know you're being ordered around, so don't waste my time. I want to talk to your boss."
