Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: You’re Too Loud

It was the most ordinary question, yet Lin Aida's expression turned flustered and evasive.

Alex smiled and didn't press further. Instead, he stepped back to move forward.

"It's okay. If you don't want to say, you don't have to."

Lin Aida struggled for a moment before speaking, "Mr. John, it's not that I don't want to tell you. I'm afraid that if I do, you won't believe me. You'll think I'm a freak."

Alex laughed, waved to call the waiter, and ordered a few dishes.

Then he lowered his voice and said, "Actually, people often think I'm a freak too. Some even call me a 'monster' or a 'pervert' in their hearts."

He shrugged, "But I don't care."

Lin Aida looked at him with envy, "You have such a good mindset."

She shrank slightly toward the corner of the wall, as if leaning against it gave her a bit of security.

"I don't have many friends."

"And no one talks to me like this."

"Alright…"

The girl took a deep breath, as if encouraging herself, then said, "Mr. John, do you know what sleepwalking is?"

Alex picked up the teapot beside him and poured tea for both Caitlin and himself, "I do."

Hearing the sound of tea filling the cup, Lin Aida thanked him and continued, "When people sleepwalk, they wake up and find themselves somewhere unfamiliar."

"My situation is kind of like that."

"Of course, I'm not a sleepwalker. I just… how should I put it…"

She thought for a moment, then organized her words, "For example, I live on the fourth floor of an apartment building. But sometimes when I open the door to go out, I end up directly on a busy street."

"Sometimes it's clearly daytime, but when I walk out the door, it's already night. Well, I know that from the temperature and from what people say."

"Like yesterday, I originally planned to go to the supermarket to buy some things."

"But the moment I stepped out of my door, I was already on the street. I have no idea where I came from. I only know that there were gasps all around me."

Lin Aida held her chest, "I was scared to death. Luckily I have experience. I pretended nothing happened and left calmly."

'No, no. The ones scared to death were other people.'

'You walked out of a pile of ruins. I bet anyone who saw that scene was completely stunned.'

Alex took a sip of tea, "Sounds interesting. Do you end up in the same place every time?"

Lin Aida shook her head, "Probably not."

Alex asked curiously, "Then how do you get back?"

Lin Aida said, "After two or three hours, as long as I can find a door. Any door will do. I can go back home."

Alex asked again, "Does this happen at fixed times, or?"

Holding her teacup, Lin Aida said, "It's not fixed. Sometimes it happens once or twice a month. Sometimes it happens four or five times a week."

'I see.'

It could be confirmed that this girl needed a door to carry out her "dimensional travel." Any door would work.

Also, to return, she just needed to wait two or three hours and go back through any door.

There didn't seem to be a time limit for the travel itself, and her ability was uncontrollable.

It happened randomly.

Whether it was the timing of the travel or the destination, both were random.

Alex frowned slightly. If that was the case, then if he wanted to travel with Lin Aida, he would have to keep her by his side.

'Should I just capture her and bring her back to the Seven Tower?'

He dismissed the idea as soon as he thought of it.

After all, once he traveled to another universe, he would have to rely on Lin Aida to return.

If he forcibly controlled her and frightened her away, or something unexpected happened, he might never come back.

'Hmm! She said she doesn't have many friends.'

'Or maybe she has no friends at all?'

'Then maybe I can become her friend. A friend who knows her little secret?'

That should be the most ideal approach. It just wasn't something Alex liked.

Because real friends required sincerity. And for a blind person, Alex believed she would be more sensitive than others.

She could tell whether someone was genuine.

So if he wanted to be friends with Lin Aida, he would need to move her heart and give real feelings.

'Better observe for now.'

Alex was still unwilling to give his feelings easily, even if it was just friendship.

He was long past the age of pouring his heart out to others so easily.

Soon the meal ended. Alex took the initiative, "If you don't mind, may I walk you home?"

Whether or not he would build a friendship with Lin Aida, at least he should get her address first. That would make it easier to approach her in the future.

Lin Aida didn't refuse.

The two walked down the street. Without turning around, Alex already knew that the three dark men who had tried to steal from Lin Aida earlier were following them.

After walking for a while, they arrived at an apartment building.

Lin Aida politely asked, "Would you like to come upstairs for a bit?"

Alex observed the surroundings. It was very remote. The alley was quiet. The few dark men were lurking at the entrance.

"Sure," He agreed readily.

.

.

After sitting for a short while at Lin Aida's place, Alex took his leave, not putting any pressure on the girl.

As he stepped into the hallway, suddenly loud electronic guitar music burst out from the room opposite Lin Aida's, the harsh noise making Alex frown.

He casually scanned the room and saw a long haired man inside, wildly playing the guitar.

Judging that the man wouldn't pose a threat to Lin Aida, Alex left.

There was no elevator in the building, so he had to take the stairs. When he reached the stairwell, his ears twitched slightly, catching voices from the first floor.

"That white guy still hasn't left."

"Once he's gone, we'll go for that blind girl."

"The guy across from her always makes a lot of noise every night."

"If anything happens in that room, no one will know."

"I'm telling you, that woman looks pretty good. After we take the money, maybe we can have some fun with her?"

What followed were even filthier words.

Alex let out a soft chuckle, placed his hand on the railing, and walked down step by step.

At the first floor landing, the three men were either sitting on the steps or leaning against the wall.

All smoking.

"I'll go first later. Don't fight me for it," said one with a lip piercing. As he spoke, he saw Alex coming down.

He quickly kicked his companions, signaling them to make way.

After Alex walked past them, he stopped, turned around, and said, "Next time you plan a home invasion, don't talk so loud. Even the deaf could hear you."

Then he shrugged, "But I don't blame you. Trash like you who only think with your lower bodies are just apes that haven't finished evolving."

"Am I right, swines?"

The man with the lip piercing suddenly threw away his cigarette, pulled out a handgun from behind his waist, and pointed it at Alex's head, "We can't let him go. He'll report us to the cops."

"Kill him and dump him in a trash can!", shouted another with earrings.

Just then, they saw this ordinary looking white man reach out and grab the handgun.

With a casual squeeze, the gun turned into a lump of scrap metal.

The lip pierced man's fingers snapped along with it. He was about to scream when a hand covered his mouth.

Alex raised a finger to his lips, "Shh! You're too loud."

Then his five fingers tightened.

The man's head exploded on the spot, like a watermelon smashed open.
