Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: The Immortals and the Aliens

"Translate?"

This was Nick's old specialty. He nodded, "No problem."

"But I think I need to rest a bit."

"If you don't mind, how about tomorrow?"

Alex gave a slight nod, "Tomorrow sounds good to me."

"Is that so, then it's settled. Right now I just want to go back to the hotel, soak in a hot bath, and eat something."

"Mm! I probably can't stomach meat anymore. I'll just have some bread."

While Professor Nick was talking, he suddenly realized his feet were slightly off the ground. Then he no longer felt the chill inside the mountain, as if the cold had been blocked by some invisible barrier.

Only then did he notice that Homelander had lifted him with one hand and was flying back toward the pyramid.

Alex had no interest in waiting until tomorrow for the professor to translate. He wanted to know right now what those words in the room below actually meant.

He used the 'biological force field' to cover Professor Nick, so he was not worried at all about flight or the environment affecting the professor.

Seeing Homelander carrying her mentor back into the pyramid, Amy froze for a moment, then shouted, "Homelander, please take me with you too!"

"I can help."

"Please don't leave me here alone."

"Don't abandon me."

Alex ignored her completely, carrying Professor Nick at a steady pace, neither fast nor slow, toward the ritual hall.

Professor Nick said, "Can you bring Amy along as well?"

Alex asked back, "Do you need her help?"

Professor Nick replied, "Not really, but I'm worried she might be in danger."

"Relax, the danger here has already been dealt with."

"Unless she decides to get herself killed."

Alex said casually. In fact, that really had been the last Black Robe.

Now, aside from the three of them, the pyramid only had some small insects left. There was no way anything could hurt Amy.

In the blink of an eye, they arrived at the hall.

Only then did Professor Nick notice that there was a passage in the middle of the stone platforms.

The old man said excitedly, "This should be the underworld passage from Egyptian legends. It goes straight down. Legend says it can lead all the way to the underworld."

While he was speaking, Alex had already carried him down. Professor Nick immediately cried out, "Where are we going?"

"Relax, not to the underworld."

"I don't have that ability yet."

"Who knows about the future."

"There's a room down there. Inside are a lot of ancient Egyptian writings. I think they record some information," Alex said casually.

Professor Nick asked curiously, "I never knew you were interested in Egyptian civilization?"

Alex smiled, "Everyone has different sides. Don't you think?"

As they spoke, they flew out of the passage. Alex's eyes immediately lit up with golden light.

At this moment, his eyes shone like light bulbs, emitting bright golden radiance. It was as if sunlight had descended into this underground world, illuminating the entire room.

"Oh my God, that's the elder's coffin."

"Damn it! It's been opened!"

"That means what's inside will oxidize. A lot of things, a lot of details, will be lost," Professor Nick looked heartbroken.

As the one responsible, Alex shrugged, set the professor down on the ground, and pointed toward the wall ahead.

That wall not only had ancient Egyptian writing, but also murals.

In the murals, the 'Queen of the Night' stood with her eyes closed, holding a scepter. Her lower body was blurred and replaced by a pyramid.

That pyramid was divided into several layers. The first layer was the largest, with three figures standing inside.

All three figures were dressed lavishly, wearing masks, each holding a scepter of a different design.

On each subsequent layer, the figures inside became progressively smaller, but their numbers increased with each level.

The second layer had fourteen people.

The third layer had thirty six people.

The fourth layer had eighty nine people.

It seemed to represent some kind of hierarchical structure.

At this moment, Professor Nick's hands trembled as he touched the wall, "This is…"

"This is information related to the 'Queen of the Night' recorded in the Egyptian Book of the Dead."

"The text here translates to say that the 'Queen of the Night' established a great kingdom, a kingdom where death would never descend."

"In this kingdom, the 'Queen of the Night' was unquestionably the supreme ruler."

"Below her were three pharaohs who shared her burden and governed the kingdom for her."

"Below the three pharaohs were fourteen pharaohs, thirty six grand elders, and eighty nine elders."

"All of these formed the upper structure of the kingdom."

"It says here that the 'Queen of the Night' once waged war in her homeland, to expel those who were disrespectful and blasphemous."

At this point, Professor Nick smiled, "Of course, in the records of the ancient Egyptian royal family, it's a different story."

"Over there, the 'Queen of the Night' is the traitor and the heretic."

Alex nodded lightly, thinking that bringing the old man along had been extremely wise. Without this human translation machine, he would have had no idea what this stuff was saying.

Professor Nick continued translating, "That war ultimately ended in failure."

"The king of ancient Egypt used some kind of miraculous object. Mm, that's what it says."

"But it doesn't specify what kind of object it was, or perhaps my understanding isn't deep enough. Ancient writing is always vague and imprecise in how it conveys meaning."

Alex nodded to show he understood.

Only then did Professor Nick continue, "In any case, after that object was used, these undead were no longer impossible to kill."

"Even the 'Queen of the Night' nearly lost her life."

"Oh! So this is why the queen left Egypt."

"They crossed deserts and mountains and eventually arrived at this land."

"They originally planned to take root here, but one day, indescribable alien beings descended from the sky."

"These creatures that came from the heavens fed on life on the ground, including the immortals."

"And the immortals were regarded by these extraterrestrial visitors as the highest grade of food. This irreconcilable conflict finally led to war."

Alex thought of the strange figures emerging from spacecraft in the murals above.

Then he said, "What were those extraterrestrial visitors? Aliens?"

"It doesn't say very clearly here," Professor Nick frowned slightly, "It only says that those aliens could be worn by humans like clothing, which made them very difficult to detect."

"Additionally, people who wore the aliens had already become puppets, controlled by the aliens."

"The aliens were like cursed armor. They would manipulate the puppets to slaughter humans, and even immortals could be controlled by them."

"The war between the immortals and the aliens ultimately ended with both sides severely wounded."

"Most of the aliens fled back to the sky. A small number disappeared without a trace."

"The immortals suffered devastating losses. The queen was gravely wounded and fell into slumber, possibly never to awaken."

"Of the three pharaohs, two died in battle. Most of the remaining pharaohs, grand elders, and elders also died in that war."

"The once powerful kingdom declined after enduring two wars. Recorded by Brox."
