Chapter- 24 False Victory
Lucien and Aren went near the village gate entrance, and they saw many goblins. The village people were fighting them.
Then Lucien looked at Aren.
"Let's go," said Lucien.
Aren nodded.
Seris and Lira were in the village because if goblins attacked from another fence wall side, they would tell Lucien and Aren.
After Lucien and Aren left the village entrance gate, they saw goblins attacking the village.
They took their swords out and ran toward the goblins.
After they saw them clearly.
The goblins stood nearly as tall as humans, their bodies lean but tightly muscled. Dark green skin stretched over sharp features, and their golden eyes held awareness — not madness.
They wore fitted leather armor reinforced with pieces of stolen metal. Their weapons were clean and well-balanced, not crude scraps.
Lucien saw many cuts, and their bodies were covered in crude surgical stitches.
"Experiments?" Lucien inwardly thought.
Then he looked at Aren.
"DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN! AND KILL THEM ALL!" said Lucien.
"OKAY!" Aren replied.
Aren took a long breath. He hesitated for a moment.
Then he swung his sword. The goblin's hand was cut off, and he quickly picked up a villager.
After he created some distance, he said to that person,
"RUN!"
Aren looked at that goblin again.
The goblin ran toward Aren. Then it jumped and spun its whole body.
Aren struck at the goblin's neck.
"Hard… These goblins are different from normal ones," Aren inwardly thought.
After putting more strength into the strike, the goblin's head fell off.
Lucien saw this while fighting the goblins.
"Good," he inwardly thought.
After that, Lucien and Aren started killing them, but not easily.
The goblins were strong, and they moved in groups.
Lucien's sword was covered in goblin blood, and some village hunters also joined Lucien and Aren.
"KILL THEM ALL!" said one hunter.
The other hunters shouted loudly with energy.
Hours passed
During these hours, Aren and Lucien killed many goblins.
Then Lucien killed the last one.
"What are these things?" Aren said, breathing heavily. "They aren't normal goblins."
Lucien replied while standing up, "These goblins are human experiment goblins."
"What?" Aren said in shock.
"Something is really wrong. Why are experiment goblins here?" Lucien thought.
Lucien looked around.
There were only dead goblin bodies, and there was no harm to them or the village hunters.
Lucien took a long breath, then looked up and saw the full moon.
He smiled.
"I think we have killed all the goblins," said Aren, now breathing normally.
Lucien replied, "Well, I also think so."
Lucien thought this because he could not see any goblins, and he could not sense any goblins with his sense magic.
The villagers were happy.
After that, they went inside the village.
"Why am I getting a bad feeling?" Lucien thought.
Aren noticed Lucien.
"Are you okay, Lucien?" said Aren with a worried expression.
Lucien looked at Aren.
He smiled.
"I am fine," said Lucien.
Then they saw Seris and Lira. They waved their hands.
When Aren and Lucien came closer, they saw that their swords and clothes were covered with goblin blood.
"Are you guys okay?" said Seris.
Lira was also worried about them.
"We are fine," said Aren.
"I think this was the end of this mission—" Lucien thought.
But then he suddenly sensed goblins.
Lucien opened his eyes wide and quickly placed his hand on the ground.
"Hey! What happened?" asked Aren.
Lucien didn't say anything.
Seris and Lira also went near them.
After Lucien used sense magic again, he was shocked.
Then he smiled.
" Are you kidding me?" Lucien inwardly thought.
Then Lucien looked at Aren and the others.
"We are surrounded by them," said Lucien.
"What do you mean by that?" asked Aren.
Seris and Lira also looked at him.
"Goblins," said Lucien. "They are about to attack this village again."
Aren's eyes widened.
"Didn't we kill all of them?"
"From Lucien's information about goblins," Seris said, "they must have sent a few goblins first to check if we could handle them or not."
She paused.
"They must be going to attack again."
"Which side are they going to come from?" said Lira.
"All sides," said Lucien.
"What?" said Lira.
Then Lucien saw the village chief.
He came near them.
"I heard from the village hunters that you guys killed all the goblins," said the village chief.
"Sir, prepare all the hunters for the real fight," said Lucien.
The old man looked confused.
Lucien explained that they were surrounded by goblins and that they were going to attack again.
The old man was shocked.
"I will inform all of them," said the village chief.
Then the village chief quickly left.
"Now what we are going to do?" Lira asked.
Lucien replied, "We are going to divide into four groups."
"What?" Lira said. "If the goblins are strong, isn't it better if we work as a team?"
"No. We are surrounded," said Seris.
She knew this because she also used sense magic.
"And the fence walls are weak because they were just built. If the goblins use strong force, they will break them."
"Yes," said Lucien. "And if they enter the village, it is all over."
"What do you mean by all over?" said Aren.
"All the village people will die," said Lucien.
He knew this because if the goblins broke even one fence, they would enter the village. After that, they would kill many people, and saving everyone would be nearly impossible.
Aren, Lira, and Seris were scared to fight alone.
Lucien took a long breath.
"Well, I know they are strong," he said. "But we are stronger than them."
He smiled.
The atmosphere changed.
"Well, you are right," said Aren.
Seris and Lira also smiled.
After that, they divided into four groups.
Aren stood at the front main gate of the village with a few hunters and villagers.
Seris was on the left side of the fence wall outside the village with a few hunters and villagers.
Lira was on the right side of the fence wall outside the village with a few hunters and villagers.
Lucien was on the back side of the fence wall outside the village, but he was alone. He sent the hunters from the back side to Seris and Lira.
Inside the village, some villagers were protecting the village from goblins, and all the womens and childrens were inside the village chief's house.
The village chief stood outside the house and looked at the sky.
"If there is any god… please help us. Please," the village chief inwardly thought.
Lucien used his sense magic again.
He paused for a moment.
Then he quickly took out his sword.
"Here they come," said Lucien.
He could hear terrifying screams coming from the forest.
