Chapter 2 - the whispering room

Riya was brave by nature, but anyone could be afraid in the dark. She had come to live with her parents in an old house on the outskirts of the city. The house was spacious, but an unknown peace enveloped it. People around said that no one had stayed in this house for long, but Riya ignored these rumors, considering them rumors.

The first night passed peacefully… but at midnight, things changed.

At exactly 12:12, Riya heard a soft but cold voice.

"Riya…"

She immediately sat up. Her heart started beating fast. The whole house was asleep. In a moment, the same voice was heard again, this time more clearly.

"Come up… to the room above."

Riya remembered that room. It was always closed, and she felt strangely cold when she got close to it. She closed her eyes, explaining to herself, but she couldn't sleep.

This voice started coming every day now. Every night, closer and louder.

On the fifth night, curiosity burned more than fear. Carrying a torch in her hand, Riya slowly climbed the stairs. The door to the room that was always closed was open today.

As she entered, the door slammed shut behind her.

There was a broken mirror in the room and unknown marks on the walls. The mirror's surface slowly became foggy… and then the words appeared:

"Get me out of here."

Suddenly the air became as cold as ice. A shadow appeared in the mirror — a girl the same age as Riya, with tears in her eyes.

The shadow said softly,

"I was trapped here years ago. No one believed me."

Riya understood — this voice was not meant to scare, but a cry for justice.

Gathering her courage, Riya ran downstairs and told her parents everything. The next day, the police and the city elders arrived. Behind the walls of the house, old secrets and evidence of a forgotten crime emerged.

That night, the house was completely silent.

Before leaving the house, Riya looked in the mirror one last time. There was no shadow in it anymore. Only a soft voice was heard:

"Thank you…"

Riya smiled softly and turned to leave…

But then the sound of the door closing came from behind.

After that, Riya never even went near that house.
