'That must be Dodai. The one who helped Naruto against the reanimated Third Raikage in the Fourth Great Ninja War. He must be the commander of this unit of Kumo.' Shunsui thought as he stared at the person on the massive red dragon that had appeared.
The creature was as large as the great toads such as Gamabunta and its body radiated enough heat to make the air shimmer. Shunsui felt a deep sense of relief that the future Fourth Raikage Ā had not chosen to appear on this side of the battle.
Ā was the overall commander of the Kumo forces on this front and Shunsui could not imagine what kind of monster a man of that level would be able to summon if someone like Dodai could already call forth a full sized lava dragon.
He was even more thankful that the current Raikage himself was not present inside the game zone. A leader of an entire village might have been given the power to summon something as overwhelming as a fragment of the Ten Tails or an equally impossible beast.
The thought made Shunsui shake his head slightly. 'Yeah I am not playing this game again if I can help it. Too much risk. Tower Defense mostly happens in clear waves but what if all the boss monsters decided to come at the same time? That would mean facing every wave at once and even these towers would not be enough.'
He looked toward Choza who still stood in the heavy knight armour granted by the Hero Platform. Theoretically the extra powers of the Hero status should be more than enough for an elite jonin like Choza to take the dragon down.
Even without the special armour and hero abilities, Choza already ranked among the strongest fighters in the village. The added chakra and the unique Hero skills only made the matchup more favourable.
Choza himself seemed to feel the same confidence. He grinned under the metal helmet and took several large steps that carried him outside the broken section of the wall yet still kept him inside the outer limits of the game so that he would not lose the Hero status.
He brought his palms together and muttered, "Expansion Jutsu."
His body began to grow at a fast rate. First he matched the size of the lava dragon. Then he continued to increase both height and weight until he towered over the creature.
The metal armour and the shield that the game had given him grew in perfect proportion with his body so that they remained useful at the new scale.
Konoha shinobi and Kumo shinobi alike watched with wide eyes as Choza's size reached such an enormous degree. Because he no longer needed to worry about chakra limits while he held the Hero title he had poured a massive amount of energy into the expansion.
Even after becoming a giant he still retained enough power to sustain the size and to use several more techniques.
The lava dragon beat its wide wings and rushed forward to meet the giant Akimichi. Choza answered the charge with a heavy punch.
His hand burned the moment it touched the red hot scales of the dragon yet the force of the blow was still enough to stun the creature and stop its forward momentum.
Choza followed the punch by swinging the giant shield in a wide arc. The metal face of the shield smashed into the side of the dragon and drove the entire beast down into the ground with a heavy impact that shook the valley.
He then raised both fists high and brought them down together onto the earth. The double strike landed not only on the fallen dragon but also on the smaller monsters and Kumo shinobi who had been unlucky enough to stand nearby.
The ground itself seemed to compress under the weight of the blows and many of the lesser beasts and fighters were crushed flat. Blood spread across the dirt in a wide circle around Choza's knees. For a moment it appeared the giant had seized complete control of the fight.
The remaining Kumo shinobi and their surviving monsters recovered quickly and attacked Choza from several directions at once.
He turned and blocked the new wave with th his shield yet the effort required to stop attacks from so many angles was enough to distract him.
While his attention was divided the lava dragon managed to push itself back into the air. Dodai still sat securely on the creature's back and had somehow avoided the worst of Choza's earlier rampage.
The dragon climbed higher and began to gather a large amount of bright molten chakra inside its open mouth. Small droplets of pure lava fell from its jaws and struck the ground below where they melted clean holes through the soil and rock.
Shunsui saw the gathering energy and understood the danger at once. He shouted, "Choza sensei look out!! Use your ultimate ability!"
He knew there was no realistic way for Choza to survive a direct breath of lava while remaining at that size.
The only method of survival would be to dodge the attack completely yet if Choza moved aside the river of molten rock would continue forward and turn the entire fortress into a melting pool that contained every Konoha shinobi still inside the walls.
Choza heard the warning and responded without hesitation. He planted the lower edge of the giant shield firmly into the ground and activated the most powerful skill the Hero status provided.
"Hero Ultimate Ability: Invulnerable Fortress."
The effect was simple and absolute. For the next five seconds Choza became completely immune to every form of damage. A large translucent barrier expanded outward from the shield and formed a glowing dome that surrounded his entire massive body.
The lava dragon released the gathered breath and a thick river of molten rock slammed into the barrier. Heavy smoke and steam rose from the point of contact yet the translucent wall held firm and refused to break.
The five seconds passed and the protective dome faded exactly as the ability's limit required. The ultimate skill could not be used again in this battle yet Choza did not look concerned. He still had other methods left to finish the fight.
He gathered a dense amount of chakra into one enormous palm and used a technique that belonged only to the higher levels of his clan.
"Akimichi Secret Art: Buddha's Palm."
Choza then shoved the giant palm forward with all the strength of his expanded body. The attack travelled in a straight line toward the flying dragon and the commander who rode it.
Dodai's eyes widened when he saw the massive glowing palm approaching. He reacted with the only defence he had time to form.
"Lava Release: Rubber Ball Jutsu."
A thick layer of vulcanised rubber formed around his body and sealed him inside a protective sphere.
When the Buddha's Palm struck the rubber ball, the sphere was sent flying backward at high speed. The technique successfully protected Dodai from the direct force of the blow and carried him out of the immediate danger zone.
The same protection did not extend to the boss monster or to the other creatures and Kumo shinobi who still remained on the field.
The glowing palm continued forward after batting the rubber ball aside and met the lava dragon full on.
The dragon's body was blasted apart under the force of the massive Palm. Pieces of the creature that still carried active lava struck the ground and burned deep craters wherever they landed.
Below the path of the palm the smaller monsters and the Kumo shinobi who had not managed to run far enough suffered the same fate.
Wolves, bears, scorpions and the last of the iron rhinos were caught in the attack. They were crushed or torn apart. Bodies and pieces of bodies littered the earth.
Some of the Kumo fighters at the outer edge of the attack managed to throw themselves aside and therefore survived with only injuries.
Most of those who stood closer to the centre had no time to react and were simply erased by the energy of the attack.
