Zabuza, Kisame, and Mangetsu had easily passed the first round of the Chunin Exams. The three Kiri genin stood together with confident expressions as they left the examination building.
They had not needed to spend much time or effort on the prisoner. All they had to do was leak their killing intent and give threats like he would not be safe after the Chunin Exams. They warned him that since they were going to fail if he did not reveal the information, they might just kill him right there.
The man gave up all the information and his crimes instantly after that. His face had turned pale and his hands shook as he spoke quickly to save his own life.
Kisame's appearance of a shark did not give much confidence to the man about them behaving humanly. The sharp teeth and blue skin made the prisoner think these were not normal genin but real monsters from the Hidden Mist.
True it did not serve the purpose of the test which was to show their information gathering and interrogation skills through careful conversation. But they were not there to become Chunins, were they?
Konoha might value those skills of careful questioning and smart thinking but Kiri valued only killing and strength above everything else.
And that was why they were in Konoha. They were to kill other villages shinobi not allied to Kiri especially Konoha genin and they were also to show strength to everyone so that other countries would prefer Kiri for missions and thus reduce the money going to Konoha.
And then Kiri would join the war against Konoha when the time came. That was the real mission behind sending this team to the exams. That's why Kiri has sent a single team. A single team of monsters to show Kiri's superiority.
And the three genins themselves believed themselves to be superior to most genin from other villages. Their lives in the bloody mist had made them strong and ruthless from a young age. They had survived things that would break grown up shinobi.
Well that was until they felt the chakra pressure from that Konoha boy wearing the straw hat and a pink kimono.
The moment that pressure had washed over the hall before the first test, even these three dangerous genin had felt it. It was like a hidden ocean ready to drown anyone who challenged it.
The Kiri team had used their own bloodlust, killing intent and chakra pressure to push back, but the boy's pure chakra had matched and even overpowered their efforts without any visible strain. It left a strong impression on all three of them.
When they reached the stage for the second round, they found him and his team had also passed without any trouble.
"So he has also passed huh," Zabuza muttered as he stared across the gathering area. Mangetsu and Kisame looked at where he was looking to see Shunsui standing with his teammates. The boy in the pink kimono looked relaxed, adjusting his straw hat while talking casually with the others.
"What are you scared of him, Zabuza? The demon of the mist scared of a child of Konoha. The ones you killed in your graduation test must be laughing at you," Mangetsu said with a smirk and a chuckle.
Zabuza shot him a cold glare but did not deny the pressure they had all felt. "Shut up Mangetsu. You also felt his chakra pressure did you not? We were using our bloodlust and killing intent along with our chakra suppression to suppress everyone but he managed to counter us with just his chakra pressure alone. The amount of chakra that he must possess for that much pressure... it should be insane. It is definitely more than Kisame's," Zabuza said seriously.
"So what he has lots of chakra? When it would come to a battle, it would come down to skill. There is no need to worry about him," Mangetsu said arrogantly.
Kisame said with a grin, "There is definitely need to worry about him. He is dangerous." His sharp teeth showed clearly as he smiled, and his eyes narrowed with interest.
Mangetsu asked with disbelief, "You are calling a genin boy wearing pink kimono dangerous?" He could not believe his teammate was taking the boy so seriously.
Kisame said, "And that is why he is dangerous. He is a shark hiding as a normal fish. He looks soft and harmless with his fancy clothes and lazy way of standing there. Most people would laugh at him or think he is weak because of how he dresses."
"But underneath that pink kimono and straw hat is real power. He does not show off like us. He hides his strength until it is too late for the enemy. That kind of shinobi is the most dangerous one because you never see the attack coming until the water is already red with blood. He reminds me of myself in some ways, but with even more hidden depth. We should keep our eyes on him during this forest test."
Mangetsu groaned. "Ugh I am with you dimwits because the Mizukage puts us together in a team. Why cannot there be chunin exams where you can participate solo?"
They then quietly listened to the Nara explain the rules about the second round. Shikaku stood on the platform and gave clear instructions about territories, flags, and the seventy two hour time limit.
As the Nara completely explained the rules, Mangetsu spoke up with a confident plan. "One of us is enough to defend our territory and the other two would hunt down other teams."
This time the other two genin nodded in agreement. The idea made sense for their style of fighting. They were built for aggression and quick kills rather than sitting and defending one spot.
"This would be the best chance to eliminate Konoha genins before Kiri declare war on Konoha," Zabuza added with a dark look in his eyes. "We might not get a chance to kill them during the next round with Konoha shinobi watching," Zabuza added.
The three of them knew that later stages would have more supervision, making open killings harder without consequences.
And then grins formed on the faces of all three Kiri teens that would scare the shit out of even seasoned shinobi.
