As Minato felt the chakra coming out of the boy, he was surprised. The amount of chakra that was being released was pressing down on the training ground like an invisible weight was a lot.
Obito had dropped to the ground instantly, struggling to even lift his head. Minato's blue eyes sharpened as he observed the scene carefully.
'Is this boy like Kushina? No, I do not think so. He is not a jinchuriki. It is not as much chakra as a tailed beast, but the amount he has is terrifying,' Minato thought. 'Every tailed beast is currently sealed in a container. This is all his own power. A child with this much chakra… unbelievable. And he is not even a Uzumaki considering he does not have red hair and the third might have informed Kushina if he knew that she had a living relative.'
Minato continued analyzing the boy silently. 'Jiraiya-sensei was right. You see new astonishing things every day. I guess that is how he gets new inspirations for his books.' Minato allowed himself a small, private smile at the thought of his teacher and his antics. But the smile faded quickly as he focused again on the pink-kimono-wearing boy.
'If Shunsui.....if I am not wrong about his name, has this much chakra, then Obito does not stand a chance if the boy knows how to use it effectively. Even Kakashi might struggle. And considering Choza-san is his sensei, I am sure he would have taught the boy a few tricks,' Minato thought.
He looked at Obito, who was still pressed against the dirt. Minato knew the boy would take this defeat hard. His student had not even been able to raise a finger in the battle. The humiliation would sting deeply.
'If he gets through this, he might become a better shinobi,' Minato thought with quiet hope. Obito had talent and heart, but he needed to learn humility and patience.
"Huh, would you look at that. I just learned this trick just an hour ago. It seems Yamanaka-san was not lying. This thing is good to deal with low-level people," Shunsui said casually, as if he had only flicked a pebble instead of releasing a wave of crushing chakra.
Minato's eyes widened slightly. 'He learned to project his chakra just today? While it is not so difficult, learning it in hours is impressive. So you have a boy with immense chakra reserves and talent. Konoha would have another good shinobi soon.'
Minato was happy to know that Konoha would have another good shinobi because that meant there was another strong person to protect the village.
As Shunsui had said "low level," Obito's eyes widened in fury. With gritted teeth, he pushed himself up from the ground.
His arms trembled and his legs wobbled as he struggled agaist the chakra pressure, but pure stubbornness kept him moving. "Who are you calling low level?!" he shouted, finally standing upright even though his knees still shook. "I am the great Uchiha Obito-sama and I am going to become the Hokage…"
He took a shaky breath and pointed at Shunsui. "And before that… I would beat you."
Minato smiled softly as he watched his student's determination. Even in defeat, Obito refused to stay down. But he still had to be fair. "The fight is over. Shunsui wins the spar."
Obito wiped dirt from his face and glared at Shunsui. "You might have won today, but there will be chunin exams soon. I will be participating and I hope you will too. During that battle, I will defeat you in front of everybody, surpass you, and become the Hokage."
Shunsui looked at him with calm, almost innocent eyes. His voice came out cold and cool, "You might aim to surpass me… but tell me, have you ever even understood what it is you're chasing?"
Minato could tell that there was no mockery in Shunsui's tone. Obito opened his mouth to reply but found nothing to say.
Minato watched the exchange carefully. 'And he has got himself quite an attitude too. I hope he does not break Obito.'
Minato was about to say something to ease the tension when he suddenly felt another person with a massive amount of chakra moving toward them.
This presence was very familiar to him. A second later, Kushina came running into the training ground. She was wearing her cooking apron and held a wooden spatula in one hand like a weapon. Her red hair bounced wildly as she moved.
"I felt someone with a massive amount of chakra that I did not recognize and I came as soon as I could!" Kushina said, looking around for any threat. Her eyes scanned the area quickly.
Then her gaze locked onto the boy wearing the pink kimono. Shunsui stared back at her. A light blush appeared on his cheeks.
For a few seconds, he seemed genuinely stunned. Then, in a soft but clear voice, he said, "Umm, miss… you are very pretty. Umm, would you like to go on a date with me please?"
Kushina froze completely. The wooden spatula slipped slightly in her hand. Her mouth opened, then closed again.
She stood there dumbfounded, staring at the young boy in the pink kimono who had just asked her out with complete seriousness while still blushing.
Obito's jaw dropped. Rin covered her mouth in surprise. Kakashi raised an eyebrow. Guy gave a thumbs-up to Shunsui with sparkling eyes.
Minato simply blinked, trying to process what had just happened.
