As Elysia pushed the story forward, with Einstein and Tesla backing her up, Himeko successfully stormed the Third Airport - and the Hyperion, its secret weapon finally installed, arrived to reinforce them.
Himeko and Tesla cut down everything in their path and made it into the control room, where Tesla used her own technology to seize control authority over the Third Airport.
But Himeko, piloting an Anti-Entropy mech against the enemy, had gone frighteningly pale.
Her body lurched once, hard, and her free hand flew up to cover her mouth.
"Khh…"
A stifled cough.
Then Himeko took the hand away from her lips.
On screen, the camera gave it a merciless close-up.
In that palm, calloused from years around a sword hilt, sat a wide, sickening smear of blood.
The crimson ran down between her fingers and struck the floor, splashing into ugly red flowers.
The side effects of the artificial Stigmata, after one brutal high-intensity fight after another, had finally driven that riddled body to the edge of collapse.
["Damn it. Of all the times… so I really am running out of it, huh. Time."]
[Himeko looked at the streak of blood in her palm. She knew the state of her own body better than anyone.]
[But right now, she had no intention of telling a single soul.]
She simply wiped the blood away in silence and kept fighting.
The danmaku that had been lining up a chorus of [Let's go!] a moment ago was smothered flat by that pool of blood.
Great sweeping waves of exclamation marks and question marks scrolled across the screen.
[Holy crap! What's wrong with Teacher Himeko!]
[She's coughing blood?! That is WAY too much blood!]
[No! Isn't this supposed to be a hot-blooded shonen story! Why is she coughing blood the second we reach Headquarters!]
[How is she supposed to fight in that condition! Go back and rest, right now!
[This… this isn't setting up a burn-your-own-life play, is it?]
Something dropped in Elysia's chest.
That pool of blood made her eyes sting.
But she couldn't panic.
She was the stabilizer for the mood of every fan watching.
She drew a deep breath and forced the rising dread back down.
She leaned in toward the microphone and called out in a voice pitched a little too high.
"It's fine, it's fine! Nobody panic!"
She squeezed out a smile for the camera, though it looked strained from any angle.
"This is a classic anime formula! Think about it - when has a protagonist ever gone into the final battle without taking a few hits? It's build-them-down-to-build-them-up!"
She kept driving the game forward while spinning reasons at top speed.
"Teacher Himeko is just exhausted! And besides, this is Schicksal Headquarters - there's definitely going to be some way to treat her here!"
She even hauled out Su Yu as her guarantor, never realizing that she had walked straight into a certain someone's trap long ago.
"There's no way Big Boss Su would have the heart to kill off a Teacher Himeko this good! He's just building a little tension, that's all!"
Her explanation was thin. Even Elysia herself was starting not to believe it.
But at that moment, countless players who refused to accept reality latched onto her words like a lifeline, agreeing frantically, flooding the screen with [medical miracle].
Once she'd pulled herself back together, Elysia pushed on with the story.
The plot reached the point where Tesla and Himeko went together to shut down the Honkai Reactor in that sector.
Fu Hua had already returned to Schicksal Headquarters and met up with Rita, learning that the captain of the Immortal Blades, S-rank Valkyrie Durandal, had been sent to sweep out the Honkai Beasts that had invaded the Headquarters.
Otto, meanwhile, ordered Rita to stay behind and assist Fu Hua in completing the mission.
Assist, he called it - though there was surely a note of surveillance in it too.
Elsewhere, Himeko and Tesla had entered Schicksal's defensive perimeter.
When asked about the so-called "battle plan," Tesla's trademark hot-tempered red twintails looked ready to catch fire on screen.
["Battle plan? I think we should ring Otto up on a private line and have him shut down every Honkai Reactor Schicksal owns. Then roll out a red carpet to welcome us into the lab, and pop a few bottles of champagne to celebrate. How's that plan sound to you?"]
["Hmph! What plan could there possibly be! Obviously we smash everything we can see into scrap!"]
That one line set the entire stream on fire for this glorious hothead of a big sister.
[Hahaha! Ill-tempered redhead big sis, I'm in love, I'm in love!
[She's right, just smash everything in front of you into scrap and call it a day! Doctor Tesla for president!
[FIGHT! Fighting feels GREAT! That's the kind of plan a real badass makes!]
Over their short time together, Tesla finally admitted her real reason for being willing to walk into death alongside Himeko - because she had seen it. This red-haired woman was the same kind of idiot as a certain fool she'd once known, the kind who burns herself down to pave a road for her comrades.
Shutting down the Honkai Reactor didn't go smoothly. Plenty of enemies blocked the way, but with Himeko and Tesla working together, it ended without disaster.
With the job done, Tesla delivered her victory speech on the spot, complete with a vicious stomp on a Schicksal mech.
["Hmph! Schicksal is pathetic! A pile of scrap metal - calling these things mechs is an insult to the Titans!"]
But flags always come down faster than anyone expects.
["Oh… so these are Anti-Entropy's new-model mechs? They look like… cleaning them up will be a bit of work."]
Rita Rossweisse!
The next second, before anyone could even track the arc of that death-god scythe, the mech Tesla had been so proud of was dismembered into a floor's worth of scrap!
["Doctor Tesla, look out!"]
Rita's appearance put Himeko on maximum alert. She knew perfectly well how monstrously strong the vice-captain of the Immortal Blades was.
[Please abandon your resistance, Major.]
Himeko started to draw her ship-slaying sword - and then Fu Hua appeared behind her without a sound, without a trace.
["Put down your weapon. I won't hurt you. Coming here was a mistake in the first place. Kiana, she…"]
["She isn't the real Kiana. Theresa and I have known that for a long time."]
Himeko cut her off without giving an inch.
["Then why did you… Her power is highly unstable. She could go berserk at any moment. Letting her run free is a threat to all of humanity."]
["Spouting high-minded words while shoving an innocent girl alive into her grave - Fu Hua, is this your justice?"]
["To fight the Honkai, sacrifice is unavoidable. Major, you should understand better than I do that misplaced pity only invites far more terrible consequences."]
Facing the comrade who had once fought at her side, her own student, Himeko closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, the look she turned on Fu Hua was full of sorrow.
["You don't understand what 'sacrifice is unavoidable' really means."]
["Fu Hua, the truly terrifying thing isn't how many lives this world takes away."]
["It's how many people it teaches to treat the loss of a life as ordinary."]
On screen, Himeko did not back down.
The engine of her crimson armor howled under a load it couldn't bear. She raised that ship-slaying sword - the symbol of defiance - and charged an enemy she could not beat.
But this… this was a one-sided steamrolling with no suspense in it at all.
No miracle. No sudden surge of power.
Fu Hua needed only a few clean, efficient moves to break Himeko utterly, on raw strength alone.
CLANG.
The heavy ship-slaying sword tore free of her hands and struck the cold metal floor, ringing back an echo that broke hearts.
In the end, both Himeko and Tesla were hauled back to the Cathedral and locked in a cell.
The picture faded to black.
The stream erupted in one enormous wail.
[Aaaaaah! How did it turn out like this! Big sis Himeko lost?!
[The Squad Monitor is too strong, there's just no beating her.]
[Is Fu Hua really only an A-rank Valkyrie? Can two A-rank Valkyries really be that far apart?]
[Fu Hua… sigh, all I'll say is, go read The Forgotten and you'll get it. Fu Hua has her own unspeakable reasons.]
[It's over, it's over, even Himeko's been captured, who's left to go save Kiana!]
[Su Yu, get out here! What happened to the hot-blooded shonen story you promised! This is us getting our faces ground into the floor!]
Elysia watched the carnage in the danmaku, and her own chest tightened along with it.
But she couldn't let that kind of despair spread.
She was the streamer. It was her job to hand everyone hope.
She rearranged her expression in a flash, gave the camera a playful blink of those bright, dewy eyes, and forced out a smile brimming with confidence.
"Now, now, don't go getting mad at the Squad Monitor just yet!"
She pointed at the spot where the screen had gone dark.
"Think about it carefully! Squad Monitor Ah Hua deliberately instructed Rita, 'do not take Teacher Himeko's life'!"
She clapped her hands together as if she'd uncovered some earth-shattering flaw in the plot.
"What does that tell us? It tells us the Squad Monitor is still on everyone's side deep down! She has to be acting! She's protecting Teacher Himeko and the others in a roundabout way!"
Elysia's tone grew more certain by the word.
"I've figured it out! The Squad Monitor's playing Infernal Affairs! Right now she's only earning that evil Bishop's trust. At the most critical moment she'll absolutely flip, work as the inside agent, and get everyone out! It's definitely that!"
This forced bit of face-saving logic, at the depth of everyone's despair, actually managed to calm a good number of viewers down.
[Makes sense! Ellie's analysis is right!
[The Squad Monitor always looks after everybody, there's no way she'd really defect!
[Holy crap, that scared me, I thought we were actually getting wiped out.]
Seeing optimism return to the danmaku, Elysia patted her chest in relief.
She felt like she'd wrenched a plot bus that was seconds from going off a cliff back onto a highway named "happy ending."
What nobody knew was that the train of fate had long since locked its throttle wide open on the road to hell.
The view switched to Raiden Mei.
To protect the white-haired girl who had saved her at Chiba Academy, the Lightning Queen who had spent so long refusing the power inside her finally made her decision.
With her own hands, she removed the bomb implanted over her heart.
No more running. She would use this power to protect the people who mattered to her.
But before Elysia could even finish being happy about Mei's resolve -
Einstein's transmission cut into Mei and Theresa's conversation. The shield over Schicksal's airport had reacted, yes, but communications with Himeko and Tesla had gone dead.
There was no road back for them now.
As the Hyperion drew closer to the airspace above the laboratory, Theresa's instincts prickled.
The defenses were thin. Almost nothing had blocked their approach.
It was as if someone was deliberately letting the Hyperion in.
An invitation into the pot, obviously.
["Intense spatial fluctuation detected!"]
The comms officer's terrified shriek hadn't even faded before Raiden Mei felt an irresistible force seize her body and wrench.
Amid Theresa's cry of alarm, Mei was swallowed whole by a deathly silent Imaginary darkness.
Not long after, a familiar - and skin-crawling - voice sounded beside her ear.
["Mei… Mei…"]
Raiden Mei's eyes snapped open.
She found herself cradled in Kiana's arms, held from above, like something being looked down upon.
["Kiana, are you all right?"]
["I'm wonderful. So wonderful it's… almost like being born again."]
The moment Kiana finished speaking, that familiar body twisted into something horrifying.
The void behind her split open, and the floating Subspace Lances spread out like the wings of a death god.
Those blue eyes, always clear and delightfully stupid, had been replaced by a cold gold.
The White Comet armor had become a lavish gown woven from densely concentrated Honkai energy.
In that instant, Raiden Mei felt as if she'd been dropped into an ice pit.
All the blood in her body ran backward.
The person in front of her was no longer the Kiana who clung to her arm begging for food.
It was something enthroned far above, something that regarded humanity as ants - the Herrscher of the Void!
["I'm so glad you were here beside me when I woke. Now - become one with me again, my other half, my Gem of Conquest!"]
The instant she registered the danger, purple lightning exploded out of Raiden Mei's body and tore her free.
The Third Herrscher's personality was firing off warning after warning inside her.
["We came too late. The Honkai has already taken her. She's dangerous now."]
The Herrscher of Thunder's warning didn't make Mei flinch. She tightened her grip on her weapon.
["No! It's precisely because she's dangerous now that I can never, ever let go of her!"]
The Herrscher personality let out a soft laugh, scornful and approving at once.
["Hmph… fine. If the enemy is a Herrscher, then a Herrscher's power is what it'll take. Don't disappoint me."]
BOOM - !!
The Herrscher of Thunder became a violent surge of purple light and poured into Mei's body, holding nothing back.
Her eyes burned a searing purple with lightning, and savage electric serpents danced around her, shattering the Imaginary Space in every direction!
["Kiana, I will never abandon you - just as you never once abandoned me!"]
In the cinematic, Raiden Mei, granted the Herrscher of Thunder's power without reservation, became the Lightning Queen once more.
A battle of two Herrschers detonated above Schicksal Headquarters.
The entire stream boiled over.
The dread that had been building for an entire chapter blew apart in one heaven-splitting clash of titans. Every line of danmaku turned into a scream:
[HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP!! Third Herrscher versus Second Herrscher! It's ON!!]
[Boss Mei is unbelievably cool aaaaah!
[For Kiana's sake, Mei accepted the very Devil she feared most! This is what true love does!
[GO! Beat some sense into that white-haired idiot, hard!!]
[Wake her up with love! Don't lose, Mei!!
Elysia got so worked up she shot out of her gaming chair.
She stood there with her fists clenched, eyes blazing, locked onto the lightning and Imaginary Space tangling across the screen.
This was her favorite thing to watch.
This was power thrown down for the sake of a Bond, the ultimate romance of throwing everything away for a Bond.
"That is SO moving - !"
She shouted it into the microphone, her voice thick with a fervor she couldn't hide.
"Did you all see that! Mei accepted the thing she was most afraid of! A Bond where you'll sacrifice anything for your comrades absolutely, absolutely can beat the Honkai!"
She spun a happy half circle in place, her long pink hair carving a bright arc through the air.
"This has to be the climax! You all know what comes next! Mei's going to break right through the Herrscher of the Void's defenses and land the classic friendship face-breaker punch!"
She mimed a punch, without a shred of doubt in her voice.
"Physically knock some sense into Kiana! Then everyone holds hands and goes home together, back to St. Freya Academy for dinner!"
A screen-wide tide of [we can win], [face-breaker punch] and [happy ending] rolled over everything like a tsunami.
In that moment the audience was drunk on pure adrenaline.
They believed, with total conviction, that in this battle where both sides ran toward each other, justice and love would win.
The fated duel between the Herrscher of Thunder and the Herrscher of the Void had, without question, driven Chapter Eight to its first boiling point.
Elysia couldn't calm her hammering heart either.
She gripped the controller hard, driving a Raiden Mei wrapped head to toe in raging purple thunder into a savage duel on that floating platform against the Herrscher of the Void wearing Kiana's face!
On pure gameplay feel, the Herrscher of Thunder's awakening gave Mei upgrades across the board - wider attack hitboxes, blazing movement speed, doubled SP regeneration.
The satisfying rhythm of the combos let Elysia forget, for a moment, how heavy the story had gotten. She just wanted to sink into this "fighting feels GREAT" showdown.
But even as the danmaku filled with [Mei is unreal], a handful of clear-headed lore readers caught a whiff of something wrong.
[Guys, I want the friendship face-breaker punch as much as anyone, but… can Mei actually win?]
[Hard to say! The Second Eruption that the Second Herrscher Sirin triggered was the single most destructive disaster in recorded history! The Third Eruption in Nagazora isn't even in the same weight class!
[And did none of you catch the dialogue? Sirin just said she wants the Gem of Conquest inside Mei to fuse back into her…]
[Those Herrscher gems Schicksal and Anti-Entropy are sitting on were dug out of Sirin's body in the first place.]
The analysis in the danmaku froze the hot-blooded air a little.
[What's there to be scared of! Even if we lose the one-on-one, we've still got the seventy percent of Anti-Entropy's mech army Einstein pulled in! And Theresa, a near-S-rank Valkyrie, waiting outside as backup! The advantage is ours!
And just as everyone settled in for a long, grinding war of attrition -
Elysia had just knocked one bar off the Herrscher of the Void's health.
The game froze. Forced stop.
The UI vanished in an instant.
A million hearts in that stream lurched at exactly the same moment.
In an action game, when you've got a boss with a visible health bar pinned to the ground and grinding, and the game suddenly cuts to a cutscene… there's only one possibility.
An unavoidable, scripted defeat.
And what came up on screen next hit Elysia and every viewer online like a blow to the skull.
It wasn't real-time in-engine footage.
It was a 3D animated short with the budget going up in flames.
The animation opened without a single hot-blooded clash.
There was only a pale hand, clamped like an iron vise around Raiden Mei's throat, hoisting her helplessly into the air like a lamb carried to slaughter.
Mei thrashed in agony as the air was cut off from her. Her purple lightning, before the absolute Authority over space, was as feeble as a candle guttering in the wind.
No matter how she struggled, she couldn't break that grip.
["Ki… ana…"]
Mei forced the name out of her throat.
The sudden animated sequence left everyone stunned.
Elysia's eyes went wide, her mouth slightly open. "This… this is an animation?! Not a CG slideshow?!"
After a few seconds of dead silence, the danmaku went off like a nuke.
[HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP!! What is happening?! They just drop a film-grade animated short on us out of nowhere?!
[Has miHoYo lost their minds?! They were hiding a card THIS big?! The budget is literally burning!
[No wait… wait my ass! One second ago my Boss Mei was swearing she'd never abandon her, and the next she's getting throttled and beaten like a dog?!
[They made a ten-million-dollar animated short specifically to execute Mei?! Su Yu, what the hell is going on in your head!!]
That sudden animation dropped a nuke of technical shock on the industry and the playerbase alike.
It also dumped a bucket of ice water over every Mei fan who'd been waiting for that friendship face-breaker punch.
One second they were anticipating a clash of two gods, the next her throat was being crushed one-sidedly?
Even granting that Thunder loses to Void, was the gap really this hopeless?
In the animation.
The dying Mei stretched out her hand with enormous effort, straining to touch that familiar face.
The instant her fingertips brushed the Second Herrscher's cheek -
A miracle seemed to happen.
Kiana's cold gold pupils contracted violently, and a single struggling tear slid from the corner of her eye.
The Herrscher of the Void let go in obvious pain, clutching her head, convulsing where she stood.
["Cough - cough - cough!"]
Free again, Mei clutched her throat and coughed in agony.
Looking at the Kiana who seemed to have come back to her senses, hope flickered in Mei's eyes, and her hand reached out on instinct.
["Kiana…"]
But the miracle was nothing more than the Abyss toying with its prey in the cruelest way it knew.
In the space of a tenth of a second.
That flicker of humanity in Kiana was wiped out by a surge of raw malice.
"Heh heh…"
The Herrscher of the Void raised her head again and gave a cold laugh, the kind you'd give a clown flailing for attention.
Mei's outstretched hand froze, dead, in midair.
Golden Imaginary cubes spun and merged at furious speed behind the Herrscher of the Void, finally forming a hideous colossal eye reeking of Destruction.
A shaft of pitch-black light ripped space open!
A massive subspace Honkai Beast came crashing down along with a heavy lance.
The shockwave, a hurricane that flattened everything in its path, hurled Raiden Mei's slight body away like nothing!
Mei tumbled like a rag doll under that absolute violence, rolling more than ten meters across the hard floor.
She barely got herself braced on her blade - and the enormous Honkai Beast had already leapt high, its lethal lance aimed straight at her heart!
At the razor-thin instant before Mei was run through -
CLANG - !!
The Honkai Beast's lance, capable of punching through armor plate, was caught and held fast by an overwhelming force of steel!
No matter how it roared and shoved, it couldn't press down another inch.
Mei's head snapped up.
Its optical camouflage dropped away to reveal a heavy Anti-Entropy mech - a Titan - standing in front of her like a silent guardian deity, immovable!
["This is…?!"]
With a dense chorus of grinding servos, countless Anti-Entropy mech units dropped their optical camouflage all at once.
Wave after wave of heavy mechs stepped over the fallen Mei and drove thunderously forward!
This unstoppable mech corps converged into one magnificent flood of steel.
And the only destination of that flood was the figure floating in the sky - the queen of the Honkai Beasts!
The stream, which a heartbeat ago had been wailing over Mei getting wrecked, was buried under an avalanche of [HOLY CRAP] and [THIS IS FIRE]!
What is a man's ultimate romance? Mechs!
And now it wasn't just mechs - it was an entire mech army charging to protect a beautiful girl!
[Honkai Beasts! Titan Daddy has arrived!!
[A lousy Honkai Beast, hopping around in front of me? Eat a charged haymaker!
[Pretty girls plus mechs? I'm telling you, Brother Su understands romance. Who agrees, who objects?!]
Before that mountain-moving flood of steel, it seemed even gods would step aside.
And yet.
Facing a mech army capable of leveling a city, the Herrscher of the Void floating in midair showed nothing on her face.
She didn't even find them worth a second glance.
She simply flicked both hands elegantly outward.
A soft rush of sound -
Golden Imaginary ribbons, the mark of supreme Authority, condensed behind her in an instant like the trailing skirts of a queen, throwing her noble, untouchable silhouette into perfect relief.
And in that very moment.
An epic vocal battle anthem overseen personally by Eden - "Befall" - detonated in everyone's ears, carried on an ethereal soprano heavy with divine pressure!
Inside that vast, soul-shaking song.
The Herrscher of the Void walked on empty air, and with every step the Authority over space formed a golden stair beneath her foot.
With a gait of impossible ease and elegance she climbed, one step at a time, toward the throne that belonged to her.
Then this queen slowly raised both hands, as though conducting a symphony.
And behind her, the sky tore open!
Tens of thousands of spatial teleportation gates, packed like the cells of a hive, opened across the heavens!
The Second Herrscher's hands swept down.
In an instant, an endless tide of Honkai Beasts poured out of the gates like a black waterfall and slammed into the flood of steel below!
The clash was instant, brutal, staggering.
And high above, looking down on this war of ants, the Herrscher of the Void finally delivered the verdict that made every player online shiver:
["Humanity. Your existence… is a mistake."]
She kept walking across the empty air.
The pillars of fire and violent explosions erupting where mechs met Honkai Beasts below couldn't so much as stir the hem of her dress.
With absolute indifference, the Herrscher of the Void's voice cut clean through the deafening battlefield.
["War. Deceit. Envy. Greed."]
At the bottom of the screen, the Anti-Entropy mechs, driven back step by step by the sheer mass of Honkai Beasts, were forced to bunch together and throw up a desperate blue energy barrier.
But under an assault like a locust swarm, that line breaking was only a matter of counting down.
["You once made me lose everything. And today… I will devour it all."]
["Because I… am the Honkai."]
That calm, detached voice carried no anger at all. It was a god without a scrap of mercy handing down final punishment on an inferior world.
And at the far edge of the earth.
The expensive long-range elite of the Anti-Entropy mech corps - the [Iskandar] missile mechs - deployed into heavy artillery configuration as one!
Hundreds of black muzzles locked onto the Herrscher of the Void in the sky at the same instant.
Every shell compressed into its chamber -
The next second, uncountable rounds, heavy shells and guided missiles fired in a single volley!
The whole earth groaned under the monstrous recoil of that apocalyptic salvo.
The danmaku of firelight woven across the sky was like a river of stars flowing upward, forming an airtight death-prison of light in front of the Herrscher of the Void!
Faced with an attack that could vaporize a mountain in a heartbeat.
The corner of the Herrscher of the Void's mouth curved slightly upward.
She smiled.
The next moment.
She didn't even look at the missiles about to hit her face. She simply extended her right hand, gloved in black, without any particular care.
["Snap."]
She snapped her fingers, one crisp sound.
That single snap was like pressing mute on the entire world.
Every explosion, every cannon blast, every mech engine roar was stripped away in that instant.
After a few seconds of dead silence, the climax of "Befall," epic and drenched in ruin, came crashing back over everything like a tidal wave!
In the moment that snap landed, enormous spatial teleportation gates opened out of nothing like the maws of an abyss, swallowing Anti-Entropy's world-ending barrage whole - along with all the smoke of it - in a single instant!
Those city-killing attacks hadn't vanished.
They had been compressed and reassembled by supreme Authority into a single golden orb of light, spinning quietly in the Herrscher of the Void's palm.
She closed her hand lightly around it.
One casual gesture, nothing more…
And behind the Anti-Entropy mech corps' position, countless gates yawned open without warning!
All that firepower she had just devoured came pouring out at an absurd density, blessed by the Authority over space, straight back at its original owners!
"BOOOOOOM - !!!"
In the span of that one snap, the elite Anti-Entropy mech corps that players had been screaming for, the force they'd pinned all their hopes on… was annihilated to the last unit beneath this Outclassed by None of a god.
On the ruined ground there was nothing left but acrid smoke, molten scorched earth, and heaps of scrap too mangled to identify.
The Herrscher of the Void hung high above it all, gazing down indifferently at the burning wasteland beneath her feet, as if she had just brushed away a speck of dust.
"ROOOOAR - !"
With an earth-shaking dragon's cry, the Judgment-class Honkai Beast Benares, the one Fu Hua had shot down earlier, tore back through the heavens!
It circled down in exultation and settled obediently behind its queen, becoming her most loyal mount.
Dragon and god looked down on an earth made of fire.
And Mei, who had barely survived that annihilating assault, sat slumped on the scorched ground, staring up at that unbeatable existence with a gaze of pure despair and terror.
As the final notes of "Befall" dissolved into the wind.
The camera rushed in close.
It froze on the Herrscher of the Void's exquisite profile.
She tilted her head slightly, and with those golden eyes - empty of any human feeling, brimming with limitless arrogance - she looked toward the camera.
Or rather, toward every single person outside the screen, and gave them one cold, dismissive glance.
