In Milan, Italy, an American tourist searches for a location he has been given directions to but can't seem to find it when a man asks if he is lost and the tourist asks if he knows where the old church is located. The local guides him there, informing him it's a hard place to get into given the modifications and remodeling going on, but he has managed to find all access points inside. The two gain entry into the church through the basement as the local asks the tourist what brings him to Milan as the tourist is studying the history of the city and is a professor at UCLA. The local leads the tourist to the main chapel, but the tourist is confused as there is not a sign of any construction equipment anywhere. The local reveals himself to be Arias, the right-hand servant of Luka, the vampire king.
Arias: You humans are so easy to manipulate. The oldest trick still works after two hundred years.
Tourist: What the hell? Who are you?
Arias: It does not matter who I am as you will be dead before you can even try to make it to the door. My master is awake and is very, very hungry.
A shadow figure darts above them, making the tourist look around until Arias has transformed into his vampire form, startling the tourist.
Arias: I know you're afraid and you should be. He feeds on your fear and that is what makes him even stronger.
Suddenly, the dark figure stands over the tourist, the figure known as Luka, blood drooling from his mouth as he looks down at his victim with his cold, dark, eyes. Growling softly, he lifts the man up off the ground by his throat and holds him in place. The man struggles to free himself, but Luka is far too powerful as he hurls him across the church, causing him to crash through several benches and eventually to the altar. Bleeding profusely and suffering a gruesome broken arm, the tourist attempts to crawl away as a third vampire steps out from the shadows, this one being a female named Carisa.
Tourist: Please, just let me go. I promise I won't tell anyone.
Carisa: I told you that is what he would say. They always do.
Arias: What shall we do with him, master?
Luka: This one could be of use. Take him downstairs.
Arias and Carisa drag the screaming man into the basement as Luka feels a presence, one that he has not felt in over four hundred years. A presence that makes him uncomfortable. A presence that only angers him, causing him to let out an angry roar and throws a bench through the window and happens to kill three people outside. On the roof, Luka, Arias and Carisa stand atop it as they look down on the chaos beneath them but is not a worry to Luka.
Luka: The arrowhead has spoken to me. We will find the five unities and once we do, I will use the arrowhead to turn this planet to dust. It will soon be ours and my glory will be mine. Find the enhanced ones that Nelson promised. It is time.
Arias: Yes, my master.
Lady Thunderbird, Switchblade and Archer all will return in the Defenders of Earth.
