A Favor Exposed
Cillian snorted coldly, his face full of open disdain, the polished floor reflecting the sharp angle of his jaw.
"What does the land in the west of the city have to do with you?" he said, voice steady and cutting. "It was Young Master Julian who spoke up and let the Aurevale Household have it."
He folded his arms slowly.
"If you don't believe it, call to confirm."
His tone carried absolute certainty.
Young Master Julian was a low-key person.
So as a subordinate, he had to step up and earn face for Young Master Julian.
The hall fell into a tense hush.
Shan Aurevale's fingers tightened around his phone before he pulled it out quickly. His pride didn't allow hesitation.
"Director Liam, this is Shan Aurevale," he said, stepping slightly aside. "May I ask about the land in the west of the city…"
A few short exchanges.
A pause.
Then his expression shifted.
The tension melted from his face, replaced by something close to relief—no, gratitude.
