The Plan That Shifted
Lina Ashford hesitated for a brief moment before replying.
"They didn't drink much," she said evenly into the phone, her voice calm and measured. "But they were hugging and holding each other. Selene Aurevale seemed very proactive."
On the other end of the line, Evan's breathing grew sharp.
"Impossible!" he roared. "Selene only has me in her heart. How could she be close to another man? Keep an eye on her and protect her, understand?"
His voice carried possessiveness—almost paranoia.
Lina's fingers tightened slightly around the steering wheel. Once, that intensity had moved her. Now, it only grated.
"How about this, Obsidian King?" she suggested smoothly. "Should I change the plan and infiltrate the D'Aurelius household to get closer to Julian D'Aurelius? That way, I can better protect Selene."
The words were carefully chosen.
In truth, she had already lost interest in continuing the mission against Mike Valquin.
She wanted to get closer to Julian.
