They say, "Be kind."
But no one says , " protect yourself too."
Nice people are celebrated in quotes, not in real life.
And when they break?
People act surprised.
Kindness doesn't come with self-destruction-but it often does.
You say yes even when you are tired. You listen when no one asks how you are.
You comfort others while your own heart aches.
You give so much yourself that one day, there's nothing left to give.
Being nice is not the problem. Not having boundaries is.
And the worst part ?
The people you helped the most…. Are the first to say "you have changed" when you finally stop overgiving.
"she was never cold. She was just tired of being warm to people who left her in the cold."
Them: you have started saying no.
Me: I know. It is called healing. You should try it sometime.
"kindness without boundaries invites cruelty."
"nice doesn't mean available 24/7."
"you can be good person still say no."
If you are one who always understands, adjust, always gives.
Here is your permission to stop.
Protect your energy. set limits. say no-don't explain it.
