Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Him.

My eyes immediately caught him the moment I stepped into the lecture room. He was dressed in his usual attire: a dark hoodie, a dark T-shirt, and his glasses — the ones that framed his entire face. I'd caught him once without them, and he had the sweetest pair of eyes.

What? I'm still just a girl who likes good-looking sights.

But something was different this morning. Usually, I would have felt the unmistakable stare on me, but seeing as I located him first… it meant his eyes were not on me.

A voice in my head questioned, Is that a problem?

Rather, his eyes were trained on something else in front of him. Even though they looked uninterested, they were still not on me. I recognized the girl — she was always irritatingly cheery. She was the kind of person who would keep talking even after many cues; she just couldn't take a clue.

You know how you'd expect your dog to see you fumbling with your keys at the door and start barking in anticipation? Yeah — but in this case, it wasn't a dog.

It was a bit surprising, because I'm pretty sure I hadn't even crossed into his line of sight when I finally had his eyes back on me, bright and shiny.

Good.

Then I made my way to the back of the room, where my friends were waiting, all while asking myself what the hell I had just done — and why it felt so damn satisfying.

"Look, your nerd's staring again!" Bry whisper-yelled, her big eyes wide.

My nerd, huh?
