Chapter 25 - Mr. Duan, is there anything else you need?

On Friday, due to an employee meeting, Lin Xi and Sun Wenxin's onboarding training ended early.

At the company, Lin Xi didn't want to ride with Duan Yiheng, so she took the company shuttle with Sun Wenxin. It took them forty minutes of winding around to reach the old campus of Yinfan Technology.

Seeing the receptionist, Lin Xi asked Sun Wenxin curiously, "Is anyone resigning from the receptionist position here?"

Sun Wenxin shook her head: "Our CEO Duan is very capable. Not only has the new campus expanded, but the business has also grown. There are more visitors and meetings, so naturally, we need to hire more receptionists. Also, one of the older receptionists has been transferred to the Human Resources department." Oh, I see.

The meeting started promptly at 3 PM. Because of her training, Lin Xi didn't directly participate in the meeting arrangements, only taking minutes. Duan Yiheng entered the auditorium right on time, and there was immediate silence.

Ordinary employees could only catch a glimpse of Yinfan's heir from afar at this time. Duan Yiheng's meetings weren't as long and tedious as those of his former boss.

He was concise and to the point.

"Recently, a serious human error occurred within the company…" Duan Yiheng spoke clearly and calmly, detailing the incident and the purpose of the meeting.

He announced the termination of the employee's employment contract. Given the potential losses to the partner bank and its clients, the company reserved the right to pursue legal action.

"No one is perfect, but this kind of disregard for rules, crossing ethical lines, and digging its own grave is something the company and I have zero tolerance for."

"However, following this incident, the company will also invest more effort in optimizing its internal promotion mechanism…" This news was good news for the employees.

Lin Xi noted down the key points. Duan Yiheng then used the meeting to discuss the relocation to the new campus.

Duan Yiheng said that once the relevant departments' inspection and acceptance were completed, they expected to be able to move in within two to four weeks. A murmur rippled through the room; clearly, everyone was eagerly anticipating the new campus.

The old office space in the campus could no longer accommodate the ever-growing workforce, and Yinfan Technology preferred to recruit young talent; a beautiful and comfortable working environment was certainly a beneficial measure. After the employee meeting, Lin Xi organized the meeting materials.

The next day was Saturday, and everyone rushed out the door. Lin Xi, perceptive as ever, looked up and met the gaze of Chen Liangyi in the second row. Lin Xi had already figured out Chen Liangyi's position after their first meeting—Business Manager of Yinfan Technology.

Therefore, Lin Xi wasn't particularly surprised to see Chen Liangyi there.

Duan Yiheng followed her gaze and saw this scene. He frowned slightly and called out, "Secretary Lin."

Lin Xi smiled, "Mr. Duan, is there anything else you need?"

Duan Yiheng's lips twitched, "Is that a professional fake smile?"

Lin Xi: "...So, do you have anything to say?"

Duan Yiheng: "Come with me in the car. I need you to handle the follow-up issues from the meeting."

Lin Xi agreed. Duan Yiheng, still uneasy, asked Qin Yang to teach her.

The car that arrived at the park was a Bentley Mulsanne long-wheelbase four-seater, making a total of four people including the driver. Lin Xi, upholding professional etiquette, reached for the front passenger door, but Duan Yiheng stopped her, saying, "You sit in the back."

Qin Yang, unsuspecting, gentlemanly opened the back door for Lin Xi.

Lin Xi smiled and thanked him, then sat down next to Duan Yiheng. Qin Yang got into the front passenger seat, turned slightly, and said, "Secretary Lin, your scope of work is extremely broad. I can't handle everything at once, so I'll be mentoring you for a while."

Lin Xi, with only a third of her bottom on the seat, nodded slightly and smiled, "Please guide me."

"The work isn't actually difficult. Besides the trivial administrative tasks, the most important things are naturally related to the company's core business. Take today's employee meeting, for example. You also need to have the meeting content confirmed by General Manager Duan and then notify all departments."

"I understand," Lin Xi replied proactively. "I also need to clarify the tasks for each department and follow up with assistance."

Qin Yang gave her an approving look: "Also, you need to be available all day on your days off. If General Manager Duan has work-related activities on the weekend, you need to confirm the time, location, and detailed information of the participants."

Lin Xi: "Understood." This had been covered in training.

"However, you can rest well this week. Generally, General Manager Duan will inform you in advance." Lin Xi nodded.

The driver stopped the car on some unknown road. Qin Yang lived nearby.

Because he was taking him, the driver took a detour, and Lin Xi dozed off as he drove smoothly. Duan Yiheng didn't know she had been studying late into the night and assumed she hadn't slept well because of Duan Mingxuan and his mother.

Duan Yiheng glanced at the soundly sleeping Lin Xi, his expression softening unconsciously. This was the second time she had fallen asleep in his car; compared to the first time when she was drunk, she clearly trusted him more this time.

Duan Yiheng took off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders. Noticing the notebook beside her, he openly opened it and looked at it. She had used a laptop for today's meeting minutes; the paper notebook contained training notes. The handwriting was as elegant and neat as her personality.

Turning to the latest page, Duan Yiheng's fingers paused slightly. The new page contained information completely unrelated to his work: October 23rd, Saturday, Duan Yiheng's birthday. Remember to buy him a gift and have a piece of blueberry cake with him. After a long silence, Duan Yiheng put away his notebook and gently placed it beside Lin Xi. He could almost imagine that every year from now on, he would feel an added sense of anticipation. Lin Xi woke up as the car pulled into the villa.

She was a little embarrassed, her cheeks flushed from a good night's sleep as she got out of the car. Unfortunately, Duan Mingxuan spotted her again on the second floor and instinctively hid behind the curtains. Lin Xi got out of Duan Yiheng's car.

Duan Mingxuan paused, then called Yu Lang to ask if he had found anything. Yu Lang reassured him, "Wait a little longer, what's the rush?"

Duan Mingxuan was anxious, but he didn't know what he was anxious about.

Lin Xi returned to her room, took a shower, threw her dirty clothes into the laundry basket, and then video-chatted with Liang Yutong.

"To be honest, I still find it a bit unbelievable that you're Duan Yiheng's secretary," Liang Yutong said.

Lin Xi laughed and asked, "What's so mystical about that?"

Liang Yutong: "Well, I used to think you two weren't in the same circle."

Lin Xi: "I'm not in his circle either now."

Liang Yutong chuckled: "Your circles are different, probably because of your ages. Think about it, he graduated from university, and you're not even an adult yet."

"Don't think like that. I'm already working, and he's still single." Lin Xi suddenly made a small joke.

Liang Yutong: "I'm actually really curious, has your older brother never been in a relationship?"

Lin Xi: "Maybe he has, we just don't know. He studied abroad for a few years, right?"

Liang Yutong thought about it, and realized it was quite possible.

"Come with me to the mall tomorrow to buy a gift," Lin Xi said.

Liang Yutong gossiped: "For whom?" Lin Xi: "Duan Yiheng's birthday."

"Now that he's your boss, you have to be mindful of social obligations and send him a timely birthday greeting." Lin Xi was taken aback; she hadn't thought of that.

"Does it have to be this way?" Liang Yutong: "It doesn't matter to the other employees, but you're the secretary, aren't you?" Lin Xi quickly set her alarm and went to work. Sure enough, she had to master the art of interpersonal relationships.
