Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Golden Dragon King Riot

Na'er was stunned, her purple eyes filled with confusion: "Why are you saying sorry?"

Gu Yue also raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at Arthur with a bit more scrutiny, as if she also wanted to know the reason for his sudden apology.

Arthur lowered his eyes and spoke the reason sincerely: "My purpose for asking that question just now wasn't pure, so, I'm sorry."

Dismissing the idea of utilizing Na'er, Arthur decided to keep this relationship pure.

If people treat me with sincerity, I shall treat them with sincerity as well.

As his voice fell, silence once again descended inside the car.

Tang Wulin and the others were even more bewildered, completely unable to understand the meaning behind Arthur's words.

How could a casual hypothetical question involve having an "impure purpose"?

Na'er was dazed for a moment, seemingly not quite understanding the meaning of "impure purpose."

But seeing Arthur's serious expression, she didn't press further, only gently shaking her head with a tone of tolerance: "It's okay. No matter what you ask, my answers will always be the truth."

In her heart, compared to the so-called "purpose," she cared more about whether the promises she spoke were believed.

Meanwhile, Gu Yue watched Arthur's candid appearance.

The scrutiny in her eyes gradually faded, replaced by a flash of realization.

She instantly understood Arthur's thoughts.

It wasn't hard to see from the hypothetical question just now that Arthur had entertained the thought of utilizing Na'er's feelings for him, testing whether Na'er would help him if he encountered danger in the future.

It was very easy to see this because Gu Yue had planned to do the exact same thing—to use feelings to win Arthur over.

Turning her gaze back out the window, Gu Yue's face remained calm.

But upon closer inspection, she seemed a bit lost... The final exams were over, and a one-month holiday followed.

"Na'er, do you have any plans for the holiday?"

A message had come from Mu Ye's side, asking Arthur to find a time to visit recently.

Happening to coincide with the break, Arthur decided to take a trip to Heaven Dou City and simultaneously extended an invitation to Na'er.

When traveling far from home, it was quite nice to have a companion.

"This holiday, I plan to go to Heaven Dou City. Do you want to come along?"

"Yes, yes!" Na'er's eyes instantly lit up, and she almost immediately leaned in close to Arthur, bouncing up and down.

"No."

A cold voice suddenly cut in; it was Gu Yue.

"Huh?!" Na'er became displeased. "Why no?"

"Where I go is none of your business!"

This time, Gu Yue didn't argue with Na'er; she just looked at her quietly.

Those eyes didn't carry a hint of emotion. Na'er suddenly realized something and unconsciously stopped her lively movements, her tone even weakening slightly: "Is it ready?"

Not far away, Tang Wulin, who was laughing and joking with Xie Xie, suddenly felt a shiver, a sense of unease washing over him.

Na'er's fingers gripping Arthur's sleeve tightened, a flash of hesitation appearing in her purple eyes, yet she still said stubbornly: "It... it's not like this one month will make a difference. He won't run away anyway."

"Delays lead to complications." Gu Yue shook her head, her tone carrying a chill unlike any other day.

Their conversation wasn't hidden from Arthur.

After all, those who didn't know the inside story wouldn't understand what they meant, only assuming there was some business between them.

Na'er looked at Gu Yue's non-negotiable gaze, then turned to Arthur, her tone a bit helpless: "Sorry, I probably can't accompany you. Gu Yue and I have important things to do this month."

"It's fine, then let's do it next time." Arthur was deep in thought.

'Is it ready' 'He won't run away'

The Divine Might from that typhoon-stricken rainy night flashed through his mind.

The next day after that, both Gu Yue and Tang Wulin had come to the academy normally. Clearly, no winner had been decided.

Are they planning to move against Tang Wulin again?

Arthur wasn't sure; it was merely a guess.

But it was likely close to the truth.

During their time together, Na'er had no defenses against Arthur, so he could clearly see her abnormality as she frequently observed Tang Wulin.

"Sigh."

Glancing at Tang Wulin, Arthur was silent for a moment before finally sighing, saying nothing. Although they were classmates and he didn't want to see the other person get hurt, this wasn't something he could interfere with.

He had no right to say anything about the matters between the Golden Dragon King and the Silver Dragon King.

In that case, he might as well just curse Tang San.

The holiday began. Everyone had their own lives.

Tang Wulin packed his luggage alone, feeling a bit lost in his heart.

Everyone else in Class Zero had gone home.

What about him?

Where could he go back to?

In the end, Tang Wulin couldn't resist the longing and prepared to go back to Aolai City to take a look.

Even though he didn't know where his father and mother had gone.

That place still held memories.

Tang Wulin stuffed his folded school uniform into his backpack and accidentally touched an old photo hidden in the lining.

He picked up the photo.

In the photo, he sat between his parents, smiling so wide his two little canine teeth showed.

Stroking the edges of the photo, his eyes grew hot.

Knowing full well there was a high probability he wouldn't see anyone if he went back, his feet still involuntarily walked toward the station heading to Aolai City.

Just as he stepped out of the academy gates, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind: "Tang Wulin!"

Arthur caught up carrying a simple bag, with a sack of snacks in his hand that he planned to eat on the way.

While offering some to his friend, he said:

"Are you going to the station? It just so happens that my trip to Heaven Dou City is on your way. Let's go to the station together."

Tang Wulin took the snacks and was stunned for a moment, then he scratched his head and laughed; the loneliness from just now seemed to be diluted by this sudden companionship: "Sure, let's go together!"

Arthur patted his shoulder, quietly leaving behind a trace of Elemental Power.

He still couldn't stop worrying.

Arthur was just that kind of person; he couldn't help everyone, but if he encountered it, he wouldn't turn a blind eye.

Perhaps this bit of Elemental Power wouldn't help much, but at least he wouldn't be going against his own heart.

The two walked side by side under the setting sun, their shadows stretched very long.

Tang Wulin chattered on about how beautiful Aolai City was, his face happy, sweeping away his previous gloom.

Arthur chimed in occasionally. He didn't intend to interfere in the matters of the Silver Dragon King and Golden Dragon King, but he also didn't want to watch this oblivious youth fall into danger without any defense.

Even if the Late Stage Tang Wulin in the Original Work made him frown.

Right now, those were all things that hadn't happened yet.

Arthur maintained the proper respect for everyone initially; before the other party did anything, he treated everyone equally.

Of course, Evil Soul Masters were an exception.

If an Evil Soul Master met Arthur and had some grievance, they had better explain it quickly.

If they were slow to explain, they could explain it in their next life.

Though Arthur might not listen at all.

Tang Wulin stood in front of his house in Aolai City with his backpack.

When he pushed open the door, the wooden table in the living room was still in its original place, only covered in a thick layer of dust.

He walked over, his fingertips gently brushing the tabletop. In a daze, it was as if he could still see his mother setting the dishes here and his father's smiling face.

While reminiscing, a sudden change occurred.

Tang Wulin's expression tightened.

He felt the Golden Dragon King Seal inside his body rioting! It was as if it were trying to burrow its way out.

He stumbled and fell, crashing heavily against the dusty wooden table; the bowls and chopsticks fell to the floor with a "clatter."

"Dying from a bursting body." Old Tang's previous warning surfaced in his mind.

"Old Tang?"

"Old Tang!"

Tang Wulin called out in fear to Old Tang, who hadn't responded in a long time; this was the only help he could seek.

He couldn't die; he had to stay alive and wait for his father and mother to return.
