Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: An Unfamiliar Awakening

"Miss Emily? Emily, can you hear me?"

A gentle female voice sounded in her ear, tinged with obvious anxiety.

Anna struggled to open her eyes, her vision gradually clearing from blurriness. What greeted her was a spacious, bright room, luxuriously decorated yet tasteful. Pale golden walls, a crystal chandelier, silk curtains swaying gently in the breeze.

"Thank heavens! You're finally awake!" A middle-aged woman in a nurse's uniform sighed in relief and pressed the call button by the bed.

Anna tried to sit up but felt weak all over. She looked down at her hands—they were slender, pale, well-maintained hands with light pink nail polish and a delicate bracelet on the wrist.

These weren't her hands.

"Where am I?" she asked, her voice more clear and melodious than she remembered.

"You're at home, dear." An elegant woman hurried into the room, tears in her eyes. She appeared to be in her forties, well-maintained, wearing a Chanel suit, a diamond necklace sparkling around her neck. "You fell down the stairs and were unconscious for two days. You scared us all."

Anna looked at her in confusion: "Who are you?"

The woman's expression froze, then turned to concern: "I'm your mother, Emily. Don't you remember?"

Emily? Mother?

Memories flooded Anna's mind—no, Emily's mind now. Emily Jang, 18 years old, the youngest daughter of the Jang family, a beloved heiress. Her father was the chairman of Jang Group, one of Korea's largest conglomerates. Her mother was a former ballet dancer. Her three brothers were elites in business, law, and medicine, respectively.

And the real Emily had drunk too much at a family party two days ago, lost her balance, and fell down the second-floor stairs, injuring her head.

Anna realized what had happened—she had been reborn as this girl named Emily.

"My... my head hurts," Emily said softly, which was true. Her temples throbbed, two sets of memories intertwining in her mind, leaving her disoriented.

"The doctor will be here soon." Mrs. Jang held her hand. "Don't worry, sweetheart. No matter what happens, Mom and Dad, and your brothers, will be by your side."

The door opened, and three tall, handsome men and an authoritative middle-aged man walked in. Chairman Jang, though worried, maintained the composure of a business tycoon. The three brothers showed no concealment of their concern.

"Our little sister is awake?" The youngest rushed to her bedside. He looked to be in his early twenties, sunny and handsome. "I'm your third brother, Kevin. Remember?"

"Kevin, don't pressure her," said the middle one, wearing glasses and scholarly in demeanor. "Emily, I'm your second brother, Daniel. How do you feel?"

The eldest, Alex, was the most composed, simply standing by the bed, looking at her with gentle eyes.

Anna—now Emily—looked at these concerned faces, a strange feeling rising in her heart. In her past life, she had been an orphan, never experiencing family warmth. Now, she seemed to have everything she had once dreamed of.

"I... think I need some rest," she said softly.

"Of course, dear." Mrs. Jang stood up, signaling the others to leave. "Let's all go out and let Emily rest properly."

The room finally quieted down. Emily slowly sat up and walked to the large floor-length mirror.

The girl in the mirror had sleek black hair, delicate features, and snow-white skin. Though pale from the injury, she was clearly a beauty. She was about 165 cm tall, with a slender, well-proportioned figure.

"Emily Jang," she whispered to her reflection.

In her past life, Anna Lee gave up herself for love, ending in tragedy.

In this life, Emily Jang decided to live for herself.
