Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: Agamotto: This Is Bad!

Karl felt that his cooperation with Tony Stark was pretty much a done deal.

Although Tony's expression had not looked very good when he left, Karl figured that, as the superhero Iron Man, he probably would not care about something this minor.

With a portal, Karl returned to Kamar-Taj.

He found Mordo, who was teaching students.

"Mordo, I still need you to help coordinate this."

"It's not just the Sorcerers' food problem. We also need some training equipment."

"There are some materials we may need as well, so I'll have to trouble you with that too."

"To be honest, every time I go to the library, I get a little worried."

"It's just too small."

Karl spoke with a pained expression.

Mordo coughed awkwardly after hearing that.

"These buildings are relics from a century ago."

"And Kamar-Taj's finances have never exactly been abundant."

Even Mordo felt a little embarrassed saying that.

Under their management, Kamar-Taj had practically become a collection of shabby old buildings and piles of rubble.

As the number of Sorcerers increased and more than a hundred years of development piled up, the library truly was no longer enough.

Some crates of books had to be stored in the basement.

Mordo felt rather ashamed as well.

Karl could not help rolling his eyes.

After patiently discussing things with Mordo for quite a while, and after Mordo finally agreed to cooperate, Karl turned and returned to his room.

This trip to Tony Stark's place had not been without gains for him.

At the very least, he had acquired a vast amount of knowledge.

And all of it was useful to him.

Master one path, and the principles of many others become clear.

Once a path reached a certain height, many truths connected to one another.

Modern scientific theory actually had a great deal in common with Radiant Sigils.

Whether it was science or magic, at their core, both were tools humanity used to explore the world.

Neither stood above the other...

In the Marvel Universe, technology was also incredibly powerful.

There were technological civilizations that surpassed even the gods, and some of their supreme creations could even erase a multiverse. Those were technological creations as well.

The two paths led to the same destination.

After gaining such a vast amount of knowledge, Karl felt something stir deep within himself.

His progress as a Sorcerer had even advanced a little.

"Last time, I fused four laws..."

"This time, let's see what happens if I fuse five."

Karl was somewhat excited.

Laws were not stronger simply because more of them were fused together, nor did that automatically produce greater power.

It also depended on the fusion itself, and on technique.

Take darkness and light, two opposing laws.

Handle them badly, and the result could easily be a problem within himself, or even self-destruction.

The four laws had already formed a certain delicate balance.

At this moment, trying to add one more law into that balance was unimaginably difficult.

But no matter how difficult it was, Karl still had to research it.

This was currently the strongest offensive method in his arsenal.

The moment he decided, he acted.

Without hesitation, Karl summoned the power of the laws.

Before long, four laws appeared before him.

Karl controlled all of that power within the area around his body, without allowing even the slightest aura to leak out.

And just like that, Karl began his research.

What he did not know was that his methods might be able to fool Skyfather-level beings, perhaps even single-universe entities.

But they could not fool a near-omniscient, near-omnipotent multiversal existence.

Within the endless Multiverse, there really was someone watching Karl.

That person was none other than Agamotto, who had deep ties to Kamar-Taj.

After all, this was his legacy.

And now that such an interesting Sorcerer as Karl had appeared, Agamotto naturally paid close attention to him.

When he had nothing better to do, he cast his gaze toward Kamar-Taj.

It took a tremendous amount of power, and only by borrowing the power of the Vishanti after the three became one, was he able to observe Kamar-Taj without alerting anyone.

Agamotto was completely dumbfounded.

What was going on?

Hadn't this kid Karl only just comprehended four laws a few days ago?

How had only a few days passed, and in the blink of an eye—

Did he think laws grew on trees?

Was he just comprehending them whenever he felt like it?

"How can a mortal possibly have this kind of talent?"

"Could this be some ancient god from Earth?"

Agamotto could not help doubting it again.

Earth had once been crowded with powerhouses.

Back then, among that group, he himself had not counted for much at all.

This kid's talent really did make people suspicious.

"But that should be impossible."

"After the God-Eater catastrophe, who would be so tired of living that they'd go back to Earth just to court death?"

Agamotto could not help shaking his head.

After what had happened back then, what ancient god would still dare return to Earth?

Even beings like the death gods and Gaea, those oldest and most terrifying old monsters, had either fled or been sealed away.

Why would any of them still be on Earth?

"But then what exactly is going on with this kid?"

"This talent is way too outrageous."

Even Agamotto could not help scratching his head.

This kid's talent simply did not seem human at all.

Just as he was puzzled, he saw Karl move within Kamar-Taj.

The five differently colored laws floating around him actually reacted.

They continuously writhed, trying to draw close together.

Agamotto's expression changed at once.

"What is this kid trying to do?"

"He isn't planning to fuse the laws again, is he?"

"Does he really have a death wish?"

Agamotto scratched his head again.

In his view, Karl having succeeded in fusing laws the last time had basically been pure luck.

This was fundamentally a life-risking move.

Succeeding once and surviving was already miraculous enough.

And now he wanted to do it a second time. This was simply a man who did not want to live anymore.

But if he wanted to die, he had better not drag Kamar-Taj down with him.

Seeing this, Agamotto was already starting to panic inside.

Just as he was about to intervene and give a warning, those two laws fused.

They actually fused just like that?

Agamotto froze on the spot.

What kind of joke was this?

The laws of darkness and light fused just that easily? Just that smoothly?

There was no conflict at all? No reaction at all?

And it still was not over.

Just as Agamotto was still feeling puzzled, he discovered that another law beside Karl moved.

"This kid is way too overconfident!"

"A mere Skyfather level, and he wants to skillfully master a three-law fusion?"

"Isn't that just sheer fantasy?"

Agamotto frowned.

At his level, fusing several laws really would not have been a problem.

But the issue was that Karl was only Skyfather-level.

Could his soul and his magic power really support him doing this?

While Agamotto was still in a daze, Karl had already moved.

It was not just one law.

The remaining three laws surged together and fused directly into the previously formed magic.

"What?!"

Agamotto shot to his feet in excitement.

A Skyfather-level being mastering the fusion of five laws?

What kind of monster was this kid?

A sense of unease rose in Agamotto's heart.

His position as this boy's "mentor" suddenly did not feel very secure anymore.
