Chapter 75 - pregnancy

Jay didn't faint.

She didn't cry.

She just stood there in the bathroom… staring.

At the small strip in her trembling fingers.

Two lines.

Clear.

Real.

Her breath hitched.

"Keifer…"

He was outside, leaning on the door frame like always, scrolling through his phone.

"Hm?"

Her voice came out broken.

"…can you come here?"

He stepped in casually.

Then he saw her face.

Then the strip.

Everything in him froze.

"Jay…?"

She lifted it slowly.

"I think… I'm pregnant."

For a second, Keifer didn't move.

Didn't blink.

Didn't even breathe.

Then he walked to her.

Very slowly.

As if the moment might disappear.

"You're… sure?"

Jay nodded.

Tears filled her eyes.

"I checked twice."

His hands started shaking before he could stop them.

He dropped his phone.

Pulled her into his chest so tightly that Jay almost laughed through her tears.

"You're… you're serious?"

She buried her face into his shirt.

"We're… having a baby."

Keifer shut his eyes.

His jaw trembled.

He whispered against her hair,

"My Jay…"

He kissed her head again.

And again.

And again.

Not wild.

Not rushed.

Just… overwhelmed.

——

They didn't tell anyone immediately.

They sat on the bed.

Jay between his legs.

Her back resting on his chest.

His hands placed over her stomach without even realizing.

Jay smiled softly.

"You're touching nothing."

He replied quietly,

"No."

He leaned down.

"And everything."

——

That evening…

Serina was cutting fruits.

Keizer was reading a file on the dining table.

Jay stood near the kitchen entrance.

Keifer stood beside her.

Unusually silent.

Serina turned.

"Why are you both standing like criminals?"

Jay laughed nervously.

"Mama…"

Serina paused.

That tone.

That soft voice.

"Yes, my daughter?"

Jay looked at Keifer.

He squeezed her hand.

She whispered,

"I'm pregnant."

The knife slipped from Serina's hand.

It hit the counter.

She gasped.

"What…?"

Jay nodded immediately.

"Yes…"

Serina walked to her.

Slow.

Unbelieving.

Then suddenly—

She held Jay's face in both her palms.

Tears filled her eyes.

"My baby…"

"My baby is having a baby…"

She pulled Jay into a tight hug.

Keizer stood up so fast his chair scraped loudly.

"Jay…?"

Keifer spoke for the first time properly.

"Yes, Papa."

Keizer's lips parted.

He stared at them.

Then at Jay's stomach.

Then at Keifer's hand resting there.

His eyes softened.

Completely.

He walked forward and placed his hand gently over Jay's head.

"You… are safe, right?"

Jay nodded.

"Yes."

He exhaled slowly.

Then smiled.

A quiet, proud smile.

"Our family just grew… before we even realised."

Serina wiped her tears and immediately went into mother-mode.

"From tomorrow—no skipping breakfast."

Jay opened her mouth.

Serina cut her off.

"No arguing."

Keifer nodded instantly.

"No arguing."

Jay blinked.

"You're siding already?"

Keifer kissed her temple.

"For life."

——

That night…

Jay lay on the bed.

Keifer lay on his side, facing her.

His fingers gently traced slow circles on her stomach.

The same slow circles he always did on her thigh while resting his head on her.

Only now…

Lower.

Softer.

Careful.

Jay whispered,

"You're very quiet today."

He smiled faintly.

"I'm scared."

She touched his cheek.

"Of what?"

He leaned forward and pressed his forehead to hers.

"Of loving someone this much… again."

Jay's eyes filled.

"You already do."

He kissed her softly.

Not hungry.

Not desperate.

Just full.

Full of her.

Full of tomorrow.

Full of a tiny life that didn't even show yet…

But already owned his whole heart.
