1 Year Later
An alarm flared through the station.
It was not the routine kind that tested readiness or discipline. This alarm only rang when something catastrophic breached the city's defenses — a Special Class God raid.
Doors burst open in synchronized motion. Men and women clad in black poured into the corridors with sharp, disciplined steps. No shouting. No confusion. They tightened their uniforms across shoulders, waists, and chests, strapping on gear with mechanical precision. Among them moved Kai.
He was no longer the boy who had arrived here uncertain and afraid. His frame had filled out, muscle sitting cleanly beneath his uniform. His jaw had sharpened, his gaze steadier, colder. There was a seriousness about him now, something earned rather than forced.
"Sergeant Kai Lannister, report to the Chief's office immediately."
The voice echoed from the speaker mounted high on the dressing room wall.
Kai exhaled through his nose. "Of course I have to report," he muttered under his breath.
A firm knock landed on the back of his head.
He turned sharply, pausing mid-motion while tightening his boot laces. The blonde-haired boy behind him stood with arms crossed, already fully dressed and immaculate. His eyes narrowed.
"I don't think you understand how important you are," the boy said, irritation lining his tone.
Kai straightened and feigned annoyance. "Of course I do. You remind me every day."
The boy rolled his eyes, though there was something else behind it — expectation. Pride, even. Kai did not linger. He secured his boots, adjusted his collar, and marched out of the barracks.
He crossed the grounds with steady strides, heading toward the same towering building that had swallowed him a year ago. Back then he had walked through those doors uncertain and small. Now he walked with weight in his steps.
He climbed the white stone stairs and knocked against the iron doors. As always, they burst open violently, as though struck from within by invisible force. Kai still did not understand how they did that.
Inside, the Chief sat behind his desk — massive, broad-shouldered, yellow-haired, eyes closed as if in meditation. The older officer who had escorted Kai here a year ago stood nearby, posture rigid.
"You called for me, sir?" Kai said, stepping forward and saluting crisply.
"Yes," the Chief replied, his voice low but resonant. "You are to be briefed on the direness of the situation."
Kai's spine straightened further.
"There are multiple God raids occurring across the city. Some minor. Some highly destructive. As of this moment, fifteen confirmed manifestations. Evacuation is underway. Every active force has been deployed."
Kai's jaw tightened. "Including the Rosegold family?" he asked before he could stop himself.
The older officer's brow lifted slightly.
"Including them, Sergeant," the Chief answered, rising from his seat. The air seemed heavier when he stood. "You are to lead Sector Nine. Two Special Class entities are already tearing through the district. Intelligence suggests abnormal behavior. I will join the purge personally."
Kai nodded once. "Understood, sir."
"Do not underestimate them," the Chief added. "And do not lose control."
Kai did not respond to the second part.

The helicopter blades thundered overhead as they approached Sector Nine. Smoke coiled into the sky like dark serpents. Buildings had collapsed inward, streets fractured, statues shattered as if twisted by unseen hands.
Kai stood at the open hatch, wind cutting against his face. His expression did not shift.
Before the helicopter fully stabilized, he stepped forward and leapt.
He landed hard, one knee bending to absorb impact, boots cracking the pavement beneath him. He rose slowly, scanning the devastation.
They stood ahead.
Two grotesque figures, humanoid yet wrong in every proportion. Their bodies resembled cracked marble statues, veins of molten gold threading through their limbs and pulsing faintly. One had elongated arms dragging against the ground, fingers tapering into jagged stone talons. The other stood taller, its face sculpted smooth except for a carved mouth that curved unnaturally.
The taller one turned its head toward Kai.
"You arrive… disciplined," it said, its voice smooth and disturbingly refined.
Kai did not flinch.
Behind him, another helicopter descended.
He did not need to turn to know who it was.
Meena landed with controlled grace several meters away. She had changed as well. Her hair was longer but tied back tightly, her features sharpened by training. There was more composure in her stance now, something regal yet restrained.
They faced each other briefly.
"You're late," he said calmly.
"You're alive,"she replied, just as calm.
A faint smile touched her lips before it vanished.
Kai's gaze moved around her. "Ignis isn't visible."
Meena tilted her chin slightly. "I learned control."
"And Dracon?" She asked
"Same here"
Understanding settled in his eyes. Strategic manifestation.
The speaking monster stepped forward, stone cracking beneath its weight. "You bind fragments of divinity and call it power. Curious."
Kai's voice was steady. "What are you?"
"We are remnants," it replied. "Shattered aspects of what once was whole."
Meena's tone sharpened. "Why raid the city?"
"Because the seal weakens."
Kai's eyes narrowed. "What seal?"
The second God dragged its clawed fingers across a building's façade, carving through it like clay. "The seal that cages us. The seal maintained by your Council."
Meena stepped closer. "And when it breaks?"
The speaking God's golden veins pulsed brighter. "Then the devoured shall remember."
Kai's chest tightened. "Devoured?"
The creature's gaze shifted between them. "You consume what you do not understand. You raise soldiers from stolen divinity."
Silence lingered for a heartbeat.
Then the second God lunged.

Kai inhaled slowly and brought his hands together. Instead of shouting, he extended two fingers and drew a vertical line through the air. Violet energy split the space like fabric tearing.
"Dracon… synchronize."
Dark scales rippled beneath his skin. Violet markings flared across his arms and neck. Behind him, a massive shadow formed — then solidified. Dracon emerged, larger than before, wings unfurling with force that scattered debris.
Meena rotated in place, her movements fluid and deliberate. Her fingers traced circular sigils that ignited mid-air.
"Ignis… ascend."
White flames spiraled upward, in a chaotic but precise manner. From within them rose Ignis, broader, wings spanning across rooftops, feathers burning with controlled brilliance.
The ground trembled.
The speaking God lifted its arm, distorting the air around it. Chunks of shattered buildings lifted and hurled toward them.
"Right flank!" Kai shouted.
Meena arced upward, Ignis slicing through incoming debris with bursts of concentrated flame. Kai dashed forward, violet aura trailing behind him like smoke. Dracon mirrored the motion, claws slamming into the second God's torso. Stone cracked, golden ichor spraying outward.
The creature retaliated instantly, twisting its elongated limb around Dracon's neck. The force shattered nearby pavement.
Kai clenched his fist. "Release!"
Dracon roared, jaws snapping free as violet fire erupted from its throat. The blast engulfed the God's upper body, forcing it back.
The speaking God moved with unsettling calm, stepping forward and striking with speed that blurred its marble frame. Its fist collided with Kai's guard, sending him skidding across the street. He rose immediately, wiping blood from his lip.
Meena descended sharply, Ignis diving in tandem. A beam of compressed white flame struck the speaking God, driving it into a crumbling building. The structure collapsed inward around it.
"Now!" she called.
Kai's markings flared violently. "Rage mode."
Dracon's full form expanded, scales darkening, eyes blazing with feral intensity. Its roar shattered nearby windows.
The second God attempted to flee.
Dracon lunged, jaws widening impossibly as it seized the creature mid-motion. Stone cracked loudly between its teeth.
The speaking God emerged from rubble and rushed toward Meena, but Ignis intercepted, wings wrapping around her protectively before releasing a blinding surge of flame.
Kai extended his arm. "Devour."
Dracon coiled around the speaking God, crushing its torso. Golden veins burst like fractured glass.
"You do not understand what you awaken," it hissed.
Dracon bit down.
The sound echoed across the ruined district as both Gods were swallowed whole, their forms dissolving into violet embers within Dracon's blazing throat.
Silence followed.
Dracon stood towering, chest heaving, rage still simmering in its eyes.
"Return," Kai ordered firmly.
The massive form trembled before dissolving into fading sparks.
Kai swayed but steadied himself.
Meena approached slowly, Ignis dispersing into gentle flames before vanishing.
Smoke drifted between them.
"The seal weakens," she said quietly.
Kai looked at the devastation around them, then at the sky darkened by smoke and helicopters.
"Yes," he replied. "And we're standing right in the middle of it."
"Hi" she said between deep breathes and Kai smiled.
"It's been one year." He said and then took a good look at her, she was more beautiful than he remembered, more bustier.
"You have changed"
"You too"
His comms rippled as a clear static sound of arriving message screeched, he held it and the clear voice of the chief sounded.
"We need reinforcement in section 5 if you are done with what you are doing come help now!" He sighed and looked at Meena. It was time to go and he had many things to say to her but there wasn't time.
"I will see you around" Meena said as she smiled .
