Month: Late February
Year: X776
Ages: Kaito – 10 | Erza – 10 | Mirajane – 10 | Juvia – 10
Lysanna – 8 | Elfman – 9
Location: New House (Lake & Forest Outskirts)
---
The first rule of moving in was discovered immediately:
Nothing stayed where it was put.
Erza claimed the largest upstairs room without hesitation.
Mirajane claimed the room next to it out of principle.
Juvia quietly chose a lakeside-facing room and then apologized for choosing it.
Lysanna bounced between rooms announcing which ones had "good light."
Elfman insisted on the room closest to the training yard because it was "manly."
Kaito stood in the hallway, keys in hand, watching organized chaos unfold.
Great Sage projected a tidy layout in his mind.
> Probability of adherence: 2.3%.
He smiled and pocketed the keys.
"Alright," he said calmly. "Unwritten rule—no fighting until beds are assembled."
Erza paused mid-argument. "Until?"
Mirajane grinned. "I give it five minutes."
They made it to six.

The Garden Test
The backyard became the battlefield.
Training dummies were dragged out.
Weighted weapons clanked onto the grass.
A section near the forest edge was already being measured by Erza for drills.
Kaito walked the perimeter, Predator quietly releasing stored materials.
Posts sank into the earth.
Reinforced targets locked into place.
Subtle barrier runes embedded beneath the soil—safety first.
Erza tested a swing.
The ground didn't crack.
She glanced at him. "…You reinforced this."
"Of course."
Mirajane tilted her head. "You reinforced the ground?"
"Selectively."
Juvia clasped her hands. "…Juvia feels safe."
Kaito reached out and tapped her forehead lightly. "You are."
She froze, steam practically rising from her head.

Kitchens Are Dangerous Places
The kitchen became contested territory by noon.
Mirajane leaned against the counter. "So, chef—first meal in the new house?"
Erza crossed her arms. "It should be nutritious."
Juvia nodded quickly. "And… warm."
Kaito tied an apron. "Sit. All of you."
They didn't argue.
Great Sage optimized recipes on the fly.
Predator handled ingredient prep with frightening efficiency.
Protein-rich stew.
Fresh bread.
Seasoned vegetables.
When Kaito set Erza's bowl down first, Mirajane noticed.
"Oh?" she teased. "Priority service?"
Erza met Kaito's eyes. "As it should be."
He leaned in and kissed her cheek—quick, confident.
Mirajane blinked.
Then immediately leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Fair's fair."
Juvia short-circuited.
Kaito turned, smiled softly, and pressed a longer kiss to Juvia's cheek.
She squeaked.
Lysanna giggled. Elfman stared like the world had betrayed him.
Erza and Mirajane went quiet.
Mission accomplished.

Afternoon Training (That Escalated)
They trained anyway.
Erza vs. Mirajane—controlled, sharp, competitive.
Sparks flew. Footwork clashed. Technique met technique.
The gap had narrowed.
Erza knew it.
Mirajane felt it.
Kaito observed, offering brief corrections—angle, timing, breath.
Juvia practiced control near the lake, water responding smoothly, finally listening.
When Mirajane overextended, Erza stopped short.
"…Again," Erza said, breath steady.
Mirajane grinned. "Gladly."
Rivalry sharpened. Not hostile. Alive.
---
Evening Claims
Rooms filled with personality fast.
Erza mounted her sword rack precisely.
Mirajane draped dark fabric and charms everywhere.
Juvia placed small plants by the window and whispered to the rain that didn't fall.
Kaito moved quietly between rooms, adjusting enchantments—temperature, sound, stability.
He paused at the lakeside porch.
Juvia joined him, hands clasped.
"…Thank you," she said softly.
"For what?"
"For choosing a place where water can rest."
He looked at her, surprised.
Then nodded. "You're welcome."
She smiled—small, real.
---
Night Settles In
They ate together again under lantern light.
The lake reflected the house like a promise.
Erza leaned against Kaito's shoulder without asking.
Mirajane smirked and didn't comment.
Juvia watched them, then surprised herself by reaching for his other hand.
He squeezed back.
Great Sage ran silent.
> Bond stability: increasing.
Kaito looked at them—all of them—and felt something settle into place.
This wasn't just a base.
It was home.
